Change to Empower - Andrea Firpo

Change to Empower - Andrea Firpo

Andrea Firpo, Psychic Cheerleader, Soul Liberation & Embodiment Guide, shares some of her time, past and insights with MysticMag.

Through your own personal experiences are you able to understand and help others deeply in both an emotional and practical way?

I have personal experience with every possible kind of trauma due to family modeling, personal choices, or my own beliefs, emotional wounding, and relationship patterns. All of this makes me relatable, sensitive and appreciative of human suffering because I’ve had to overcome it myself.
Every time I work with someone, I share with them either a tool I personally use or we give them some kind of homework to practice that is supportive of where they are in their journey. It is something that we agree upon together.
As we stumble on things throughout our discussion, my goal is to give them quick insights into where they are, give them clarity, and then we come up with a strategy, a pivot, or a way to shift this issue in their life. My goal isn’t to change the person, but to teach them tools and strategies to make their life easier, straightforward and more unencumbered than they have been in the past. We can strip away previous ways of thinking and limiting beliefs, so that person can be more empowered throughout their day.
My work is very practical, but more than anything I am not here to force my beliefs on anyone, and I think this allows me to work with people who may be skeptical of the psychic part. If the person shows no interest in the spiritual component, I perform it on my side through intention and it does not become part of our focus together. My goal is to meet people where they are, and help to encourage and support them in the ways that they understand and are already being.

Would you say change is a catalyst for positive energy?

I think that shifting your mindset, focusing on the good and eliminating negative thoughts is necessary for positive energy, but you also need to acquire a toolset and support system that allows you to make these changes in your life. Oftentimes this can only happen when safety is provided, and when we are ready (and willing!) to listen to another person’s perspective, other than ours.
Change is a catalyst for the growth to happen, just as growth creates more positivity in life. Both work together hand in hand, synergistically.
Change in the world, in humanity and in our cultural beliefs is absolutely necessary for us to evolve. This is the only healthy way forward, in my opinion.

How exactly do you work with your clients and what is your goal?

When I work with people, it is a combination of essentially talk therapy, based in trauma psychology – along with some intuitive meditation, belief work, emotional regulation strategies or somatic work for the second part. An energy healing is also incorporated, as I am a Reiki Master/Teacher. While the client receives an energetic adjustment, they also receive therapeutic support for their body, mind, and spirit. All three are required in order for healing to take place.
I also have a 3-day program that teaches the psychology of ‘you’, and the relationships around you. We cover what is considered abuse, abandonment, neglect, enmeshment, different attachment styles, personality disorders, ego states, defenses, boundaries, and how their specific trauma manifests while in a triggered state. We break this awareness down so completely that it becomes acutely visible for the person concerned, and abundantly clear how and why they are consistently reacting a certain way, and we do this together, so it is less scary or intimidating. I consider myself a companion that they’ve been missing – a cheerleader, so to speak. I stay emotionally regulated and provide the modeling, security and/or unconditional love so they have the opportunity and freedom to explore these innermost wounded parts within them.
Once we complete the program together, we do a follow up of individual sessions where I work one on one with regards to each of their childhood primary caregivers. We first neutralize the energy around any karmic history, contracts or anything else in the Akashic records which may have anything to do with that particular relationship. We clear any negative beliefs, memories, feelings, or experiences by bringing everything into present time reality. We also make amends to their inner child, as well as teach them techniques to help soothe their inner child long term. This brings the person’s emotional reactivity down. After a few sessions, and with practice, the person will be able to do this for themselves while in a triggered state. This provides lasting results and relief.
My ultimate goal is to be of service and to share what it is that I have accumulated as resources. I want to empower my clients to work on their own issues, get support when necessary and to bring their power and focus back to them, as opposed to trying to control what is outside of them. I teach others how to manage their own energy, actions, and emotional reactions, and how to love themselves more than perhaps their parents were able to, or to choose and ask for more than they were initially shown they were worthy of.

Do you continue to evolve vicariously through your clients and their own personal empowerment?

Yes, I am always as much a teacher as I am a student. Often the information that comes through me is also an additional message for me. We are all mirrors to each other if we are paying attention. I am constantly evolving, not only through my own education but also through my clients. I am consistently becoming a better version of myself, and if I can empower, inspire or encourage others to do the same, then I am blessed, feel purposeful and happy.

How would you describe the person you were and the person you are today – and what advice for our readers?

The person that I was, was lost, unhappy and completely disconnected from my joy or passion. My focus was on what I felt I had to do, or what had been done to me, which isn’t very empowering and left me playing a victim. So I continued to make the same decisions for a lot of my life while deeply desiring a different result or outcome. I was terrified, emotionally dysregulated and reactive most of the time. I didn’t know how to be anything else.
I grew up very religious but became an Atheist for a very long time because I felt like I was alone in my pain and no one was listening. I was an alcoholic, in and out of jail a couple of times, made some unusual decisions most people wouldn’t choose, and was also involved in an emotionally and intellectually abusive relationship for a lot of my adulthood. Generally speaking, I hated my life and the world I lived in.
I was eventually diagnosed with an auto-immune condition that scared me enough to make some significant life changes. My body finally said “no” on behalf of me. I nearly lost my eyesight which was enough to get my attention and force me to change. I broke open or had an enormous awakening, and then went on a desperate search for anyone or anything that I could learn to help heal myself. Within a year, I had completely transformed every aspect of my life, and accumulated a lot of resources. While diligently working on myself, I incorporated everything that was recommended to me by my mentors, teachers, and healers. This is the foundation of what I now teach people in my program, or one on one. I am now a very different person to the person I was, and to the other members of my family – and this was totally intentional. The change I’ve acquired was a very conscious choice.
My advice to anyone reading this is that no matter where you are, you are infinitely more supported than you could possibly imagine, and you always have the opportunity to change your life, circumstances, and well being. You can do hard things. The fear is often worse than the outcome.
