In today’s article, Mystic Mag had the opportunity to interview Alise Marie, a holistic nutritionist and beauty witch, who combines ancient traditions, herbalism, astrology, and tarot to create transformative beauty rituals.
In her latest book, The Beauty Witch’s Secrets, she shares her wisdom on harnessing the power of plants, the cosmos, and self-love to enhance both inner health and outer beauty. Join us as we delve into the world of natural magic and discover how to create a more sustainable and fulfilling beauty routine.
What inspired you to combine ancient traditions, herbalism, astrology, and tarot in your beauty rituals?
It seemed a natural evolution, really. If you are conjuring herbal potions for healing, wellness, and medicine, ostensibly, then extending that into beauty just becomes another facet of the gem, yes? The same goes for attuning to lunar and astrological cycles…you work with the energies present, which just makes everything more effective, and so much more pleasurable. There is too little pleasure taken in daily rituals, too much rushing. That actually makes me horribly sad.
How did you approach writing The Beauty Witch’s Secrets, and what guided your choice of recipes and rituals?
That was just a volcano waiting to erupt. I had an overwhelming need to get it all out in the world, for anyone who was willing to connect with it – and benefit from. Everywhere I turned, someone was feeling less than, lacking confidence…and I knew I could help give that back. If I heard one more,” I lost my mojo” I was going to scream! I want people to feel genuinely strong, so their magnetism attracts all the good things.
As a holistic nutritionist, how does a plant-powered lifestyle enhance both inner health and outer beauty?
Plant power is source energy. It comes out of the earth, gets kissed by all the elements, and has immense beauty to share. So, you are absorbing the nutrients, the magic. And then, of course, anointing your body on the outside completes the cycle. Not every ingredient works the same inside and out, and there is always the question of purity with anything at this point, but whatever diet and lifestyle you follow, you can greatly benefit from adding as much plant power into your world as possible.
How do you incorporate astrology and the cycles of the earth and stars into your beauty rituals?
Attuning to the cycles of the cosmos allows us to work with the energies present, as opposed to trying to sail against the wind, so to speak. When you are in harmony with natural cycles, you are able to tap into the power of it, and utilize that. There are times to try new products, to adopt new beauty and wellness rituals, to really shine…and there are times to hang back, and let go. And that can be something as mundane as scheduling a hair or waxing appointment at the optimum time.
What sets your eco-luxe beauty line apart from others, and how do you ensure sustainability in your products?
My collection is unique in that it bridges the gap between natural magic and the mainstream. They are luxury products in that they are sensual and decadent to use, containing the most potent ingredients, so they are both highly effective and a joyous ritual. I want to share these treasures, this concept of worshipping at the altar of your own beauty – inside and out – with everyone. I dislike the idea of keeping ideas contained within a small community.
I think every eco brand is perpetually learning, seeking the best possible ways to package and source. We work hard to partner with the cleanest and most sustainable companies, with the awareness that the world is always changing. Land and resources are not infinite, so do we all have a ways still to go? Absolutely. Will we keep at it? Of course.
Can you share any hints about the new magic you’re conjuring in your secret lair?
Yes – I am proudly launching two collections this autumn! This is massive, and I’m kind of in a whirl at the moment, but, it’s all very exciting. My Beauty Witch Collection officially launches in NYC (featuring two new products) with other cities to follow.
Then my new brand, Inner Nymph Couture, is launching a capsule collection of bespoke, upcycled vintage dresses and separates. So, beauty rituals are in order! They’re keeping me sane right now.
