Lisa Morton’s career took an unexpected but deeply fulfilling turn—from designing luxury jet interiors to embracing the healing power of Feng Shui and holistic interior alignment. After facing personal health challenges and realizing the importance of self-care, Lisa shifted her focus to creating spaces that not only look beautiful but also nurture the body and mind. In this interview for Mystic Mag, Lisa shares how her journey into holistic design began, offers practical Feng Shui tips for stress reduction, and reveals how energy clearing can bring balance and harmony into your home.
What inspired you to shift from designing luxury jet interiors to focusing on Feng Shui and holistic interior alignment?
I loved my time designing luxury jet interiors but the high demands left little room for self care. I found the pressure and stress building over the years until I couldn’t ignore it anymore. I began to implement yoga, meditation, walking in nature, therapy and more. I continued to struggle and eventually came to a point where I realized no job is worth sacrificing my health. I then left the industry and started a residential design business. I’d implemented holistic health and alternative wellness practices into my daily life and it felt natural to begin studying holistic design and Feng Shui. My intention was to help others create spaces that not only look beautiful, but also feel deeply supportive and healing.
How did your personal health challenges lead you to realize the deeper connection between our spaces and our nervous system?
I’d begun to receive Reiki healing sessions to manage my anxiety and found it incredibly helpful and eventually felt called to take a training to learn how to do it myself. It opened my eyes to the idea that just like we can shift the energy in our bodies, we can also make adjustments to the energy in our homes. I couldn’t wait to learn how!
Can you share a simple Feng Shui tip that anyone can use today to reduce stress and bring more harmony into their home?
Crafting a bedroom oasis for rest is vital. Using calming and restful colors such as cream, beige, tan, pale blue or soft green is perfect for creating a restful environment. Be sure to avoid colors that are too bold and bright such as orange, red, or fuchsia. Also, keep those more active items out of the bedroom as they don’t encourage rest. Keep the bike or treadmill along with your work computer in another room.
How does your background in biophilia influence the way you approach designing interiors for wellness?
Bringing plants or flowers into your home, or having views of nature is what helps keep our home and our body in harmony. Even clients who don’t have a green thumb can benefit from artwork depicting a forest or flowers. This provides a sense of balance and renewal and keeps us connected to the indoors while we’re inside for long periods of time.
What role does energy clearing play in your work, and how can someone tell when their space needs one?
Energetic space clearings can be transformative in a space that feels stuck, stagnant, or just off. While I love design and Feng Shui, this is by far my most requested service. The best time to have a clearing is right before a major life transition such as moving into a new home, starting a new job, or preparing for marriage. It’s also healing to cleanse out heavy energy associated with illness, grief or divorce. Having this reset can send you on a clearer path towards more clarity, harmony and alignment.
