High atop Wudang Mountain, where mist veils centuries of sacred practice, the Longmen school of Yi Jing was passed from 24th-generation master Li Cheng Yu to her disciple, Yun Xiang Tseng—known in the West as Wudang Chen. After a decade of rigorous training, Wudang Chen vowed to keep this ancient wisdom hidden for over 30 years, honoring a sacred trust. In 2012, he began teaching the Longmen Yi Jing to select students, sharing its transformative insights into self-knowledge, relationships, health, longevity, and wealth. In this Mystic Mag‘s interview, Wudang Chen offers a glimpse into a timeless practice that helps seekers align with their true nature and destiny.
You were entrusted with the Longmen Yi Jing lineage by Master Li Cheng Yu and kept it hidden for 30 years. What internal transformation did that period of sacred silence bring you?
When I was in the temple monastery, I studied the Way of the Dao — the concept of the Dao itself. It was more philosophical and theoretical in nature. At the same time, I also practiced on my own in the mountains.
However, theory must be tested and proven through practice. To truly understand this ancient mysticism, I needed real-life experience.
This is where the practice of Yi Jing comes in — decoding the secrets of heaven, earth, and humanity. It required me to descend from the mountain and step into the world: to experience life, to be a child, a father, a friend, a husband, a businessperson, a teacher.
Through living, I could truly apply what I had learned. I combined philosophical theory with practical experience. And from those life experiences, I gained wisdom and a deeper understanding of Yi Jing, of energy, and of the Dao.
This way, I developed a more unified understanding of humanity, of nature’s forces, and of how a person can live in harmony with nature to lead a full and productive life.
In other words, those 30 years of keeping the secret — of forbidding myself to use it — gave me strong discipline. It gave me time to practice deeply and to validate what I had learned.
Now I realize that this mystical secret is also incredibly practical. Looking back after 30 years, everything I learned now makes sense. It makes sense to me — and I’m sure it makes sense to the people I now coach.
The Longmen Yi Jing is said to decode a person’s spiritual DNA. How does this differ from common understandings of destiny or personality in Western numerology or astrology?
In Chinese Yi Jing — especially the unique form of Yi Jing that I practice — the approach is extremely practical. It differs from many other Yi Jing practices in China, as there are countless variations. Our method stands out with a distinctive and practical approach.
In my Yi Jing practice, which is deeply integrated into my teachings on aging, we work with nine distinct numbers that are incorporated under the Five Elements theory. Ultimately, everything returns to the Five Elements, which are each associated with specific organs in the human body.
Our date of birth — year, month, and day — contains nine digits in total. These nine numbers each correspond to one of the organs, and in my system of Yi Jing, we humanize these organs. Each organ is seen as having a sacred spirit, similar to what Western traditions refer to as a “guardian angel.”
We can think of life as a journey across the ocean in a sailboat. This sailboat requires a crew of nine — one for each number, one for each organ. Every crew member is irreplaceable and brings unique skills to the team. When the full crew is present and working in harmony, the sail is smooth, and we can reach our life goals and experience great human fortune.
However, when a crew member is missing or weak, the journey becomes more difficult. Through Yi Jing, we decode a person’s birthday to identify which crew members are strong, which are weak, and which might be missing entirely.
From this understanding, we guide people to strengthen their weaker crew members, and teach them how to use the strengths of the stronger ones. This way, each person can form a balanced and powerful team within themselves — a team that supports the energetic movement of life.
Each organ is connected to “Qi” — the life force — which is an expression of the Dao. This Qi, when expressed outwardly, becomes what we call “virtue.” Virtue manifests as character and behavior. So, when a specific crew member (or organ) is strong, a person’s character reflects that strength in positive and dynamic ways.
However, if a particular trait becomes overly dominant, it can throw things out of balance. And when a certain character or virtue is missing, the corresponding organ lacks energy and cannot perform its life tasks effectively.
By decoding a person’s birthday, we create a transparent view of their energetic makeup. We teach people how to strengthen their weak traits, how to unify all aspects of themselves, and how to learn from their internal team — ultimately helping life flow more smoothly.
Unlike many numerology or philosophical systems that focus only on luck, we go beyond that. Our method is a custom-designed system that analyzes each organ, the corresponding character and behaviors, and provides practical instruction on how to repair, strengthen, and optimize each part.
This makes our approach more than philosophical, psychological, or spiritual — it is practical, targeted, and uniquely designed to help humans live better lives.
What type of services do you offer?
In this field, I am a priest, of course, and I offer everything I have learned from my time in the monastery. We teach a range of healing practices such as Daoist Tai Chi, Qi Gong, and now, more mystical practices like energy healing and life-nourishing skills.
We also teach Feng Shui, Yi Jing (I Ching), and internal alchemy — all rooted in ancient wisdom.
As an organization, we are preparing to launch a new program for the public, which we call the Seminary Program. This program will offer certified degrees and train instructors who can teach worldwide.
Regarding Yi Jing, we coach people on how to guide others in many areas of life: relationships, career choices, early childhood development, education, professional paths, partnerships, marriage, and even ideal places to live. We also provide daily, monthly, and yearly energy readings.
The goal is to help people understand their personal energy — how to follow it, align with it, and use it to attract the best opportunities and live with greater harmony and luck.
You often speak of strengthening the internal organs to improve life and luck. Could you elaborate on the relationship between one’s organs and their fate or spiritual evolution?
As human beings, we have two of the most important goals to achieve in life: status and value. These can be realized in both spiritual and material forms.
When we are able to decode your spiritual DNA, we can advise you on how to strengthen and balance your internal organs — not just physically, but energetically and spiritually. Each organ holds a unique energy and function, and when one is lacking or out of balance, it can affect your whole life.
Every organ has eight symbolic “teachers” that help guide its development. We teach you how to learn from these teachers — whether the energy is logical or illogical, tangible or mystical. You’ll learn the skills needed to enhance your personality, restore balance and harmony, and pursue your personal strengths.
From this, we can guide you toward the best choices in life: your career path, your relationships, how to manage emotional connections, and how to choose the right partner — whether in love or business. We also help you avoid choices that may lead to imbalance or misalignment.
What we offer is truly unique. It is all rooted in what we call “The Dao of 9” — a sacred wisdom based on the ancient Daoist view of life.
To live fully, you must learn to ride on the back of the dragon — not fall off. And one day, become the dragon. This is when you truly experience the magical life force of the universe — when you become one with the Dao.
That’s when life becomes enlightened — and flows with ease. You move through the world like a fish following the ocean’s current: able to travel far, live lightly, and experience life with effortlessness and grace.
That is what our Yi Jing Wisdom can teach you: how to strengthen your organs, elevate your life, and restore faith and alignment with your true path.
Daoism teaches unity between Man and the Universe. What practices from Longmen Yi Jing help a modern person restore that union on a daily basis?
That’s a very good question. In our Yi Jing system, we decode each person’s daily Guardian Angel. In my system, we refer to this as the Gua Spirit — spelled G-U-A, derived from Bagua, the symbolic diagram used in Daoist cosmology.
Each day, one specific Gua (or spirit) is “on duty” in your life. There are nine Gua in total, and every nine days, a different one takes its turn — the same cycle applies to months and years. We call this the Guardian of Harmony, or Hamony Guard.
Imagine life as a sailing journey: every nine days, nine months, and nine years, different crew members (or spiritual forces) rotate in and out. Each Gua governs a specific organ and energy. When you learn which Gua is active — on that day, in that month, or in that year — you become aligned with it. You begin to embody that spirit by understanding its behavior, character, strengths, and energetic pattern.
This is what we call “Heaven and Human United as One.”
Each Gua Spirit carries its own metaphysical force, flowing with you. When you’re in tune with it, you begin to understand:
- What should I do today?
- What should I avoid?
- What energy is best to follow?
- How can I protect my spiritual and material well-being?
It’s like learning from a river. When the river meets a large rock, it doesn’t fight — it flows around it. It adapts and continues toward its destination. This is the Dao — following the natural flow.
In Chinese, we often say, “The Dao follows nature.” The Dao is the Way, the Truth, the Natural Law. Our system gives each person a practical tool — not just a philosophy — to follow their own Guardian Angel, day by day, and live with greater awareness and alignment.
This isn’t just about spiritual guidance. It’s also about:
Achieving status and value in both material and spiritual life.
Strengthening the body, balancing emotions, and awakening the sacred spirit.
Flowing toward your true purpose with grace.
Daoism teaches that the ultimate goal is balance, harmony, and unity — and that is also the core goal of our Yi Jing system.
You see, the Dao means “the Way,” like a road or a path. In ancient Chinese philosophy, the road isn’t something that exists ahead of you — it’s something you create with each step. “The road is beneath your feet.” The sages said “When you walk far enough, the road appears”.
That’s why practicing Daoism is about walking your own unique life path. It cannot be replaced or duplicated by anyone else. The Yi Jing gives you the tools to discover, walk, and stay true to your personal path — your truth, your Dao.
So we hope that our Yi Jing system brings people a smooth sail through life — full of wisdom, alignment, and the kind of luck that comes when you’re living in harmony with the universe.
