Allie DeNicola’s journey into mindfulness and energy healing began after the passing of her father, which opened the door to a deep spiritual awakening.
In this MysticMag interview, she reflects on how that pivotal moment led her to explore meditation, sound healing, and the power of oracle decks. Through her teachings, books, and retreats, Allie helps others find clarity, healing, and connection in their everyday lives.
Her passion lies in creating meaningful experiences that support personal growth and soulful transformation.
What inspired you to focus on mindfulness, energy healing, and spiritual practices?
My spiritual journey really began with the death of my father in 2003. I was struggling to understand the process of grief and loss, and began searching for more. I was always a lucid dreamer, and he began showing up in my dreams with messages and sometimes to explain the process of transition.
As I began to understand that there was “another space in time”, I began to search in earnest for more information and insights. This experience led me, over the past 22 years, to explore many different mindfulness modalities. Meditation, energy work, and devotional practices have become a valuable part of my toolbox. By sharing these techniques and practices with others, I have had a chance to embody them more deeply within myself.
How do your oracle decks and books support personal transformation?
In 2014, I was offered the opportunity to write my first deck of Mudras for Awakening the Energy Body, which was created with artist Sabina Espinet. It was a big shift as I took all of the information I had been learning and practicing and put it into an experiential card deck. This deck, along with the follow-up Mudras for Awakening the Five Elements, quickly became a bestseller and had such a positive influence on both beginners and those who were already well-versed in healing and yoga practices.
I believe the main reason is due to how it focuses on empowering the user to take healing and mindfulness practices into their daily routines. The intention of that deck and all that have followed has all been about supporting the readers/users in personal realization and self-healing. Oracle decks have a wonderful ability to offer messages, insights and ultimately create understanding about ourselves and our personal development. My passion for yoga and meditation also found an outlet beyond the traditional studio setting.
What role does sound healing play in your approach to well-being?
Over the years, I continued to add other modalities and practices to my workshops and classes, including sound healing. I realized the incredible benefit of sound, especially intentionally directed sound, as a way to move energy. Let me say that my family is particularly musical, so I was finding my own path with the encouragement of my family of musicians.
I began to acquire crystal bowls, Tibetan bowls, chimes, tuning forks, and other sound healing equipment to use in meditation classes. What I found about this added element is that people could just lie back and receive. The frequency of sound- whether it is spoken word, tuning fork, bowl, gong, or flute can support healing and overall well-being.
Can you share a memorable experience where your work profoundly impacted someone?
There are many incredible experiences that have come out of different aspects of my work. I think the most heartwarming are the synchronistic events that people have had using The Divine Feather Messenger Card Deck. It is based on finding feathers as a connection to those in spirit, as well as the power of the bird kingdom to convey messages and insights. Recently, I received a letter describing how, while on a road trip in California, this traveler pulled into a town, feeling an inner nudge, and found themselves in a local metaphysical shop.
They described searching for something, not quite knowing why, and found Divine Feather Messenger on the shelf. They remarked that they felt their grandmother, who had passed away, spoke to them through the Blue jays in their yard. As they flipped the box over, the blue jay image that appeared on the back was a sign. A very sweet validation that grandma was still able to communicate and indeed lead from beyond. Of course, I love hearing any stories where we reconnect to the ancestors for support.
How can beginners start integrating mindfulness and energy work into their daily lives?
Many times people ask how they can begin their mindfulness practice. My suggestion is to find one practice that you like doing and can explore with consistency. We all lead busy lives and are finding it harder and harder to carve out time for ourselves. It might be as simple as sitting down every morning or evening and following your breath.
Perhaps you find a card deck that draws your curiosity and spend time daily to pull a card and reflect. Making time for energy work like Reiki sessions and guided meditations with sound, can fit into our weekly schedules and create a shift out of stress response.
All this requires is a willingness to explore and allow. It can be a slow and steady path, but very worthwhile.
What upcoming projects or offerings are you most excited about?
My projects have evolved with my latest collaboration coming in 2025- The Enchanted Wheel Oracle, which is focused on the British/Celtic Wheel of the Year. I partnered with Sabina Espinet to create this magical deck and bring the symbols and deities of the wheel to life. I also lead group retreats nationally and internationally with a special tarot and yoga-based immersion this summer called The Oracle Within.
This is a 5-day immersion co-led by award-winning tarot author Sasha Graham at Kripalu Center in Lenox, MA. I am leading group retreats in 2026 to Northern Thailand and Guatemala, which are incredible trips with yoga, culture, and mindful intentions.
