Tap into the Power of Your Mind with Charya Hilton

Discovering the transformative world of hypnotherapy, Charya Hilton‘s journey began in 1999 when a chance encounter with a hypnotherapist ignited her fascination with the field. With over two decades of experience, she combines hypnotherapy and coaching into a unique methodology, offering powerful insights. Learn more in her exclusive MysticMag interview below.

How and when did you come across hypnotherapy and what sparked your interest in it?

I have known about hypnotherapy for as long as I can remember, but it wasn’t until 1999 that I started training in hypnotherapy. I was already a therapist and coach by then and one of my clients was a hypnotherapist. I became fascinated by his work so I had a few sessions with him and through my personal experience, I realised hypnotherapy could clear and dissolve issues that other methodologies either couldn’t help or would take a long time and a lot of work to resolve. My experience convinced me to train in hypnotherapy myself and I have had my combined Coaching and Hypnotherapy practice since 2001.

Can describe one of your hypnotherapy sessions?

I have continued to study and train in various different ways since 2001 and my work has transformed as a result. I now use a methodology that synthesises Hypnosis and Coaching called Conversational Hypnotic Coaching ( I am an accredited Master Coach and a Master of Conversational Hypnosis). This way of working is gentle, deeply powerful, very intuitive – and usually issues can be resolved in no more than 3 sessions – and most often only one. A session can last anything up to 4 hours and from the ‘outside’ might not look like what people imagine hypnosis to be.

I don’t use scripts, I don’t use inductions or hypnotic language techniques, and I don’t give audio recordings. In a session we simply have a meaningful, deep conversation – I ask simple, specific questions that are designed to lead my client into a gentle trance and to bypass their conscious mind in very subtle ways. They have as much time as they need to think and I look for signals from their unconscious mind – called Unconscious Moments – that I utilise to help the client discover and untie all the knots in their thinking that are causing their problem(s).

They have many Aha moments and realisations in one session as we delve into layer after layer of their unconscious mind and we keep going until they find the root cause of their problems. That’s why I offer a session of up to four hours – so they have all the time they need to the root cause – and why usually it takes just one session to get the result they are looking for.

Who are your typical clients?

I usually work with women with anxiety, guilt, and shame issues. Women who are playing small. I help them unleash their potential and reclaim their power to become their most confident self.

What ideas is your coaching based on?

I have been a coach for over 25 years and simply put, the foundation of all my work is, and has always been, that my clients all have the answers to their problems inside and it’s my job to help them access that knowledge and use it to understand and then heal the root causes of their issues.

How do you maintain a relationship of mutual trust with your clients?

I am as authentic as I can be – which is always an ongoing process – I am reliable, always on time, I listen to my clients (which is the most important thing a coach can do), I offer ongoing support during any programme, my service is totally confidential, I am honest and direct, and I have clear boundaries.

How do you see the field of hypnotherapy evolving going forward?

Wow, this is a big question. I think it will get simpler, less technique-based, and more intuitive. I think people will realise its power and that as we all slip in and out of trance hundreds of times every day, that it is not weird, ‘woo-woo’ or scary at all. I hope that as the understanding of the unconscious mind grows, more people will realise they can tap into the amazing power our mind has to help them to heal in ways we have yet to understand.
