Can you please introduce yourself to our readers and share a few details about your professional background?
Hello. My name is Cyrena Hoaglund and I am a Reiki practitioner and Reflexologist based in Phoenix, Arizona. I have been attuned through level III in both traditional and Shamanic Reiki and am also certified in Western Reflexology. I hope to continue expanding my knowledge of and practice in additional healing modalities that will assist others with accessing their innate abilities to become aligned in their mind, body, and spirit. Outside of passive curiosity, I never had considered Reiki or any other healing art as something I would pursue professionally; but like many others, I was drawn to Reiki at a time when I was in deep need of healing from turmoil and pain in my personal life.
Once I began exploring Reiki and holistic healing techniques more seriously, I knew it was the right direction for my life going forward. This journey has been one of the most rewarding I have ever had the honor to undertake and I am grateful to everyone that I have had the privilege to meet thus far and am excited to see what wonderful things I will encounter as this journey continues.
How does Chakra Balancing work?
Chakra Balancing is a way to align the energetic centers of the body so that they interact with each other in an optimal way. Much like how interlocking gears within a machine must not only function properly individually, they need to also be able to turn within the group of other gears for a mechanism to work, our energy centers are turning the wheels of our mind/body/spirit connection. If energy in one area is sluggish or blocked that will cause a disruption to the flow of the entire energy system.
A Chakra Balancing session can include tools such as crystals/stones, essential oils, sound or vibration, and even guided visualizations to clear anything that is energetically causing interference. Exploring what could be the source of these interferences based on where they are presenting in the energetic field can be a very revealing and profound event for many people and may provide answers that are not so apparent to the conscious mind.
What are the main benefits of Reiki?
The most commonly cited and readily apparent benefits of a Reiki session are the sense of deep relaxation and the feeling of energetic alignment that can be at once calming and invigorating. The level of relaxation achieved during a Reiki session can make stress relief, connection with spirit or energy guides, astral travel, and meditative states much easier to access for some people. It is not uncommon for even someone who is entirely new to receiving Reiki to experience a degree of spiritual and energetic connection that is completely unprecedented for them.
Additionally, some individuals who receive Reiki report pain reduction and increased healing for injuries, wounds, or chronic illness symptoms. The nature of Reiki, and that it is non-invasive and does not have specified contraindications, makes it an amazing and accessible modality for just about everyone.
Can you walk me through a reflexology therapy session?
A Reflexology therapy session begins in a similar way to a Reiki session, by making sure the recipient is relaxed and comfortable on a table (or in a chair if they prefer) and that a calm and supportive energy is being shared. Next, there will be a visual examination of the feet and/or hands of the recipient to look for any signs of injuries or pathologies that would not allow for the therapy to safely be performed. Acclimating the recipient to touch in these sensitive areas is important (many people are ticklish!) and I will do this by cradling both ankles in my hands.
From there, the muscles and tendons of the feet are palpated and gently stretched; because Reflexology works from the premise that the entire body’s structures and systems are mapped in the reflex points of the feet, ensuring that the treatment area is warmed up and has proper circulation is imperative for the effectiveness of the therapy. After this, the feet are assessed via touch for any spots that indicate imbalance or stress, which will correlate to specific areas of the body. Applying friction, stretching, or pivoting the reflex points that show signs of stress will help to relieve the issues both in the foot itself and in the corresponding area of the body.
You also offer “custom” services. How does that work?
A custom service would be anything that falls outside the realm of a straightforward Reiki or Reflexology treatment. A ceremony or ritual for energetic cleansing of space such as a home or office, a guided meditation or visualization session to support a transition or provide intuitive guidance, or even an energetic assessment of an item or place could all be requested by someone in need of assistance. Very often, a person might recognize the need for energetic and spiritual support but not know exactly how to approach whatever it is that is causing them concern, this would be an excellent time for a custom service consultation to discuss how best to care for and address whatever is troubling them.
