Eckshar, can you share more about your journey and the experiences that led you to become a Psychotherapist, Reiki teacher, and Intuitive healer? How did your background as an Indigo child influence your decision to pursue psychology and holistic healing?

I had a very interesting childhood, to say the least. You see, I actually recalled memories from my previous life and had premonitions. I remember when I thought I was going crazy; I went to my father. He has a background in psychiatric nursing, so I trusted him and wanted to talk to him about what was happening. I told him, “I think I’m going crazy. Whatever I dream comes true the next day or a few days later, and I’m really scared.” My father just looked at me calmly and said, “You’re not crazy; you’ve just inherited the family’s gift.”
That’s where my journey began. I consider it a blessing that my parents were understanding, especially since both came from medical backgrounds. My father being a psychiatric nurse and my mother being a registered nurse at the time molded their response. They made sure I didn’t feel isolated or misunderstood. I didn’t go around proclaiming my abilities, of course. I was curious but kept my unique spiritual experiences to myself and only shared it with my parents and close friends. Eventually, this led me to an interest in psychology.
My primary interest had always been archaeology and Egyptology, but I didn’t know how to pursue a career in that field, especially in Singapore, where there weren’t many mentors to guide me. However, I observed how individuals with special abilities were respected yet also labeled as insane at times. Witnessing this dichotomy, I didn’t want to end up like my uncle, whose well-being deteriorated due to lack of proper support.
I realized that psychology offered a path to understanding human behavior, and it validated that I wasn’t crazy. This realization set me on a journey. I also noticed that some of my friends were highly intuitive and sensitive. They may not have possessed my level of skill in these areas, but I saw how their sensitivity was sometimes misunderstood or even punished. This motivated me to pursue therapy, although initially, I had envisioned becoming a psychologist or clinical researcher.
But fate led me down the path of becoming a therapist, and I embraced it. I recognized the need for a safe space for highly sensitive individuals, especially in a fast-paced society like Singapore, where stress and pressure are pervasive. Not everyone has the luxury of supportive families like mine. This led me to wonder if I could provide a haven for those who needed it. Thus, my journey as a psychotherapist began.
Combining my intuitive gifts with professional training allowed me to offer a unique approach to therapy. I learned to structure my sessions in a way that could help anyone who came to me for support. It’s been a journey of self-discovery, merging my innate abilities with professional skills to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

As someone with a diverse range of qualifications and accreditations, how do you integrate modalities such as Psychotherapy, Reiki, Intuitive Therapy, and Living Light Energy (Sekhem) in your holistic therapeutic approach? How do these practices complement each other in addressing the mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of your clients?

Initially, I kept my roles as a therapist and Reiki teacher separate. As a therapist, I felt constrained by professional standards and ethical considerations, which sometimes limited the freedom I had to utilize my intuitive knowledge. However, when I transitioned into teaching Reiki, I discovered a newfound sense of freedom in holding space for others. Becoming a Reiki master opened up a different realm for me, allowing me to blend various modalities and expand my skill set.
Over time, I delved into other energy healing practices like Sekhem, each offering unique benefits that resonated differently with individuals. Some clients sought me out specifically for therapy, while others were drawn to Reiki. Initially, I kept these practices separate, but I gradually began integrating them into what I call intuitive therapy, a form of integrative therapy.
Intuitive therapy involves tailoring my approach to each client’s needs. If someone comes to me seeking both energy healing and mental health support, I seamlessly blend the two, recognizing that addressing the energy body can accelerate the healing process. Our energy body interacts with the environment first, influencing our mental and emotional well-being. By nurturing the energy body alongside addressing mental and emotional concerns, we can achieve holistic healing.
As an intuitive therapist, I can identify and address issues within the energy body that may be affecting mental and emotional health. This integrated approach allows me to support clients in building resilience across all levels – physical, energetic, mental, and emotional. While I respect each client’s comfort level, integrating these practices has proven highly effective in promoting holistic well-being.

Your focus includes working with individuals known as Indigos, Crystals, Empaths, and Highly Sensitive People. How do you tailor your therapeutic approach to meet the unique needs of these individuals, and what challenges do they typically face in today’s society?

When I set up my website, I naturally used terms that I thought would resonate with potential clients. However, I’ve come to realize that each individual, or group of individuals like myself, requires a unique approach. Factors such as age, cultural background, and resilience levels all play a significant role in how people perceive and respond to therapy.
During client interviews, I make it a point to explore their spiritual essence as it informs how they navigate challenges and envision their future. This understanding allows me to tailor my approach accordingly. For instance, when working with my clients I focus on solution focused techniques, perception-shifting techniques and emphasize the importance of establishing healthy boundaries. I encourage them to set boundaries confidently and remind them that it’s okay to adjust or even “smash” them when necessary to accommodate personal growth.
Similarly, when working with indigo adults and empaths, who are highly sensitive to their environment, I prioritize boundary-setting, emotional regulation, and grounding techniques. These individuals may require specific strategies to manage energy overload and navigate social interactions effectively.
Overall, my approach to therapy is holistic and adaptive, addressing the unique needs and sensitivities of each client. Whether it’s helping individuals build resilience, establish boundaries, or regulate emotions, my goal is to empower them to thrive in their own way.

Incorporating techniques like SleepTalk and Living Light Energy (Sekhem) into your practice showcases a broad spectrum of healing methods. Could you elaborate on how these specific modalities work?

Sleep Talk is a powerful process primarily designed for parents to facilitate unconditional love towards their children. Many children experience behavioral challenges or difficult symptoms, and parents may feel helpless. Sleep Talk offers a simple yet profound way for parents to convey affirming messages to their children while they sleep. These statements are carefully crafted to address specific issues and instill a sense of security and support in the child’s subconscious mind.
The process involves parents silently speaking these affirmations to their sleeping child, activating the child’s Reticular Activating System (RAS), essentially the brain’s gatekeeper, without the child being consciously aware. This allows the affirmations to seep into the child’s subconscious like installing a protective firewall of unconditional love.
As the child grows, this subconscious programming acts as a resilient foundation, providing emotional support and empowerment in times of difficulty. It can help children develop strong self-esteem and the ability to set healthy boundaries, crucial qualities for navigating life’s challenges, including bullying and peer pressure.
The beauty of Sleep Talk is that it works quietly and consistently over time, often yielding unexpected but deeply impactful results. Children may not consciously recall the affirmations, yet they internalize the messages, leading to increased self-assurance and emotional resilience. Parents often witness profound transformations in their children’s behavior and emotional well-being, reinforcing the effectiveness of incorporating Sleep Talk process within therapy.
On the other hand, Sekhem is a relatively new addition to my practice, similar to Reiki in its healing energy modality. I initially explored Reiki out of necessity, using it to alleviate stress and discomfort in my own pets. The experience of connecting with animals through distance Reiki during the pandemic was humbling and profound, deepening my understanding of energy healing.
Sekhem, with its slightly more intense energy, became another valuable tool in my practice, offering a different approach depending on the preferences of the individual or animal. Both Reiki and Sekhem hold transformative potential, providing comfort and healing on physical, emotional, and spiritual levels.

As someone deeply involved in the field, could you share your perspective on the intersection of spirituality and mental health? How do you see individuals benefiting from incorporating spiritual practices into their mental health journey, and what advice do you have for those seeking a balance between the two?

Spirituality is often misunderstood, especially in therapeutic contexts where clients may confuse it with religion. During introductory calls, many clients have expressed concerns about whether therapy will challenge their religious beliefs or incorporate spiritual concepts.
To clarify, spirituality is not about adhering to a particular religious system or organization. Instead, it’s about exploring one’s personal experiences, meaning, and purpose in life. It involves a deep connection with oneself and possibly with a higher power or divine presence, but without the rigid rules and regulations typically associated with organized religion.
In therapy, integrating spirituality is crucial because it addresses fundamental aspects of human existence, such as finding meaning and purpose. Mental health professionals who shy away from discussing or integrating spirituality into therapy may be missing a vital component of holistic healing. Understanding a client’s spiritual beliefs can provide valuable insights into how they cope with life stresses, anxiety, and depression.
In my opinion, mental health professionals should be open to exploring spirituality with clients, as it can greatly impact their mental well-being. Also, mental health professionals will benefit from learning an alternative therapy/spiritual tool not just to aid clients but for themselves. The mind, body, and soul are interconnected, and addressing one without considering the others may result in incomplete healing. Therefore, I believe in approaching therapy from a holistic perspective that acknowledges the importance of spirituality in promoting overall well-being.
