Learn more about Jason in this MysticMag interview.

As a practitioner of shamanistic healing, how do you define and approach the core principles of shamanism, and how do these principles guide your work in facilitating healing for individuals?

The core principle of shamanic healing is that everything is spirit-guided. For instance- during a healing session, the practitioner is guided by their spirit helpers for insight into what the client needs at that time for their highest good. Sometimes, the guidance is that there is no healing to be performed or that the client expects is not what the spirit brings through.

Can you share a specific example or case where shamanistic healing played a pivotal role in bringing about a profound transformation for a client, and what key elements of shamanic practice contributed to this outcome?

I had a European client who had described a loss of the vitality they once felt and needed direction in their chosen field. Through spirit, I was guided to bring back a part of his soul that was lost at a young age. The client agreed with this piece of soul essence to honor it by remembering the child from time to time going to a park and playing or doing something from his childhood, which brought him great joy. By remembering this child-like essence, the client could bring more creativity to his work, which opened new directions.

In the context of shamanistic guidance, how do you assist individuals in connecting with their own spiritual insights and intuition, fostering a deeper understanding of their life path and purpose?

Everyone is born with a spirit animal/guide. This is a concept that has been lost to society through various mechanisms. We often lose this critical connection to the spirit world because we do not remember and honor this vital aspect of our lives. As a shamanic healing practitioner, the return of the clients’ spirit animal/guide is often the first step in the healing journey. The return of this vital aspect of self, teaching the client to journey and honor their guide, and ensuring they can listen to and recognize the guide prompts in their daily lives allows them to gain a deeper understanding of themselves, their path, and their purpose.

What rituals or ceremonies do you incorporate into your shamanistic healing sessions, and how do these practices contribute to the overall well-being and spiritual growth of your clients?

Before I journey, I call upon my guiding spirits, the ancestors, the creator, and the divine within. I honor the cardinal directions and the sacred elements of our lives and existence.

How do you navigate and interpret the symbolic language of the shamanic realm to provide guidance for clients, and how does this approach foster a sense of empowerment and self-discovery?

The spirits usually let me know what the symbols mean. When the spirits do not let me know, there is usually a reason. The times when I was not able to understand it was a message to the client to validate the information coming through. The other times, the spirits did not tell me what the symbolism meant because I needed more time to prepare for the information. Of course, there are times when there is layered information. During these times when I do not understand, the spirits will often explain the meaning behind the information so I can present it to the client in a manner they will understand.

In your role as a shamanistic guide, how do you adapt your approach to meet the unique needs and cultural backgrounds of your clients, ensuring that your guidance is both respectful and inclusive?

I also ensure the client feels safe and honored. If there any specific honorifics they would prefer to be addressed as (he/she/they/them). During the intake interview, I inform the client that the information comes from spirit. I will present the messages as accurately as possible, even when the message may be complex. This way, I honor the spirits. This is especially important during ancestral healings when the information must be presented accurately.
