Today, MysticMag had the pleasure to speak with John Cappello, an award-winning psychic medium and author, who was voted the number one male psychic in the United States and the number two medium in 2017. John was kind enough to share details about his beginnings, the readings he provides, his amazing books, and more. This one should make it right to the top of your to-read list. Enjoy!
How and when did you discover your psychic gifts?
I have been “sensitive” since I was a child, but I never considered that I was psychic until after the death of my father. He died in 1992 when I was in my early 30s in one of his commercial buildings. His employees thought they saw him after his death in the building, and they asked me to investigate it. A friend of mine knew a psychic, and she verified that my father was there.
The psychic asked me if I was interested in taking some psychic development classes, and I agreed to give them a try. It was during these classes that I learned I had a natural affinity for psychic work. It was a hobby for many years, but my clientele grew, and it made sense to start using my gifts professionally. I became full-time with my psychic work in 2009 and have earned a living from it since.
Can you walk me through one of your psychic readings?
Every reading is unique. I do readings via the internet on my radio program, Zoom calls, and in-person readings. Every reading involves sensing the energy around a client and interpreting it. I usually understand the energy and can relay a situation to my client.
Interpreting the different types of grief which include deaths, relationships, careers, and other forms of distress comes from experience without a person revealing it to me on most occasions. There are instances when a client is shielding their situation but as a reading develops, the shield is easier to pass through. As the comfort level of a client increases with me, they become easier to read. The initial defensive energy lessens, and they become more relaxed because they can validate the information.
Psychics, like me, see a person’s past first, but if there is an overriding issue, the present can be first. “A” future can be sensed around a person, but predictions are only energy impressions that can change with the free will of the querent. The reason the past and present issues are sensed first is that it is these energies that are most stable about someone.
Another way of explaining my readings can be done by visualizing someone sitting within a rubber band ball. The rubber bands symbolize energy issues around a person. The energy issues that are stable or the ones that are most stressed and are not in sync with the rest of the energy of the ball are the ones that I sense first. These are the energies that can be read by a psychic like me.
The reasoning behind this example is that stable energy or the ones that are “out of sync” around someone enters my energy field and I can read it. It is interpreted by me recognizing my energy field capturing a fragment or a “line” of information. Once this connection is made with a client, I gain credibility with them.
I cannot claim to be 100% accurate, but I do my very best to interpret a person’s issues from their perspective.
What sets you apart from other psychic mediums?
The focus of my work is not to set me apart from other psychic mediums. My efforts are toward serving my clients to the best of my abilities and developing those abilities to the highest degree possible.
My work involves writing articles (blogging) and books, lecturing and teaching, public performances, private readings, traveling to many locations around the country, and producing a weekly podcast on internet radio and YouTube.
As an author, what books have you written and are your related to your work as a Psychic Medium?
My books are either related to my work or are inspired by my guides to have them written. They are about the human condition as I view it. It was my goal to have them demonstrate some hope and optimism for my readers. I have written eight books in different genres.
My first two books, Open the Mind Exercise the Soul, and Soul Exercises for the Open Mind are self-help books. The first book sets out my philosophies on psychic abilities and gives examples of the way my gifts work with me. The second book is a workbook for people to use to develop their own abilities based on my theories.
The third book I wrote was, Open the Mind Heal the Heart. This is a metaphysical discussion about all forms of grief. The huge topic of grief is not easy to encapsulate, but I found a template I could use for it. The Zodiac was a perfect template for understanding grief from a Universal perspective, and there are solutions to cope with it there as well.
I have a series of children’s books featuring interactions between angels and small children. I call it the Angel “Pop” Series. The reason it has this designation is that I place angels with children in modern situations. Mom! There’s an Angel in the Kitchen was my first children’s book, and it either won or was a finalist in several competitions. My second book was Elli’s Pocket Angel Surprise! This book won acclaim as well.
My third and fourth children’s books involve a character I created called, The Cat with the White Mustache. The character is an angel who gets involved in difficult situations and assists those in them to find solutions. The solutions involve virtues that the participants would not have otherwise exercised without some kind of stimulus.
The Case of the Disappearing Cat and The Angel Kitten Who Saved Christmas are the first two installments of this angel cat’s adventures. Both books have won acclaim.
The eighth book that I have written is a western called Last Chance, TX. It was a nominee for a Will Rogers Medallion Award in 2023. It has received many positive reviews and I hope to write more stories of redemption in the Old West in the future.
It is my plan to write more books about metaphysics, grief and recovery, children and angel books, and novels about life in the Old West in the future. Several are already in the works.
You also offer Astrological readings. What can you tell us about that part of your work?
My Astrological readings require learning a person’s Astrological Sun sign and working from that point. If possible, I would like to have the exact birth time, day of birth, and place of birth so that I can give an accurate reading of life events around a person. One area of Astrology that I focus on is the current transit of Saturn in a person’s chart. It can be a very revealing marker.
Is there anything else about your work that you’d like to share that we haven’t covered?
My work has received many awards and recognition over the years. I have received 19 national and international awards for my books over a ten-year period. I was voted the number one male psychic in the United States and the number two medium in 2017. I was designated as the Man of the Year in American Psychic and Medium Magazine in 2017.
