How did you become interested in spirituality and energy healing? Can you share your journey of becoming a Spiritual Guide, Holographic Energy Master, and Reiki Master Teacher Trainer?
From the time I was in my early twenties, I was intrigued by holistic health and co-founded OHLA (The Ottawa Holistic Living Association). I had been addicted to sugar and had many food allergies, which did a number on my nervous system. Subsequently, I was anxious and sick most of the time. It didn’t help that I am a highly sensitive empath and reactive to my environment. However, I had no knowledge or understanding of this tendency at the time. I was constantly on medication and my doctor wanted me to take valium to calm my nerves. I knew intuitively that something was very wrong with this approach. Soon after, I was guided to a wonderful naturopath, who supported me in cleaning up my diet. As a result, my physical, emotional, and mental health quickly returned and so did my energy! I became passionate about everything holistic and spiritual.
Following this healing transformation, I had a vision from an angel, who told me I was to start a holistic healing centre. I thought I was crazy, and I rarely spoke of this experience, but it was always in the back of my mind.
Over the next decade, my passion led me to study a number of healing modalities, including reflexology. Coincidentally, at a personal growth workshop in 1994, I met a remarkable woman who had just opened a small healing centre in Aylmer, Quebec. She invited me to work at her clinic as a reflexologist. The angel vision flashed before my eyes again, and I knew, without a doubt, that I had to leave my full-time job as an executive assistant and work with her.
She asked me to learn reiki and I did. The reiki attunement opened my third eye! I began to see into the human energy field (auric field), and at first I thought I was losing my mind! Over time, I came to recognise that my new ability was my gift, and, as my spiritual sight grew, my clients wanted me to read their energy fields instead of doing reflexology. The angel vision was now making sense to me.
I continued my training in all levels of reiki and attended a workshop with world renowned Barbara Brennan (Hands of Light). I was so inspired! I decided to create a brand of reiki called Holographic-Usui Reiki (which is explained in more detail below). I opened my own healing centre in Ottawa, and then co-founded the MacLaren Centre, and subsequently, the James Street Wellness Centre. Today, twenty nine years later, I continue to offer phone and in-person sessions, as well as classes.
What is the concept of Holographic Energy healing, and how does it differ from other forms of energy healing modalities?
The human energy field, also known as the aura, electromagnetic field, and/or the holographic field, is likened to a giant encyclopedia which contains all of the soul’s history, the ‘‘Whole of Us’’. Holographic comes from the word wholeness. Everything that has ever happened during your soul’s journey is recorded in your human energy field. It includes mental beliefs, emotional baggage, life purpose, karma, fears, dominant archetypes, divine essence, sacred contracts, past lives, and so much more. These energies are imprinted into the field and most people are unaware of how much these factors influence our daily lives. They have a profound impact and may hold us back from expressing the potential of our soul, our whole and Holy self.
I don’t think Holographic Energy healing really differs that much from other modalities, except that I can see and witness the energy, and then channel reiki to clear any blockages. I have studied and worked with many healers over the years. It’s my experience that each healing facilitator uses different tools and senses to access and clear energy blockages, in their own lovely and unique way.
What type of services do you offer?
My gift allows me to connect with the higher selves of my clients, their loved ones (living or deceased), and precious pets. I can also access animal totems, angels, guides, past lives, and am a specialist in clearing the emotional body, chakras, and energy balancing.
I also teach all levels of reiki, including Reiki Master Teacher, and offer Reiki Re-attunements, plus lead healing circles (Sacred Truth Forgiveness, Chakra Blessings, and Higher Heart Transmission).
Can you explain the principles and philosophy behind Reiki healing? How does Reiki energy work to promote healing and balance in the body, mind, and spirit?
Reiki (ray-key) is a subtle, gentle, and effective form of energy healing using spiritually guided life force. Rei is Japanese for universal life force, and Ki represents our personal energy (the aura & energy around us). When we learn to channel reiki, we consciously have access to an unlimited supply of universal life force energy! This is the same energy that operates the sun, the moon, and the stars, and gives us a sunrise and sunset each day.
Our physical body is alive because of the life force energy that is flowing through it. The knowledge of an invisible energy that flows through and is part of all living things, has been part of the wisdom of many cultures for thousands of years. If our life force is low or blocked, it impacts our well-being and personal health. Reiki is an energy that works on all levels of the human energy field, to balance our body, mind, emotions, and spirit. Practicing reiki increases one’s life force energy and brings the body back into balance promoting health and well-being.
Today, reiki is used in many settings including hospitals, hospices, in private practices, and in self-care routines. Reiki is a wonderful complementary modality in a personal wellness or healing program and is non-denominational.
The practice of reiki takes us back to our natural state of deep relaxation and love, and supports us in boosting and re-balancing our energy field. I teach reiki as a three-part spiritual practice, providing energy management tools, and encouraging my students to call on the Rei during challenging moments. Reiki has been part of my life for almost three decades now, and I would never want to be without it. It also increases our natural gifts, talents, and abilities, and awakens us to more of our true selves.
As a Spiritual Guide, what are some common challenges that people face in their spiritual journeys, and how do you help them overcome these challenges?
I most often see people lose touch with who they truly are. We are like diamonds in the rough, buried underneath worry, fear, anxiety, shame, grief and the stresses of daily life. It can be hard to see the truth of who we are when our energy field is weighed down with past burdens and emotional baggage. Our biography becomes our biology, however with Holographic Reiki, I am able to assist my clients’ in uncovering their buried treasure, reconnecting them to their innate energy, gifts, talents and abilities.
A client once came to see me due to severe back pain that he had been suffering from for years. During his session, I saw a little girl dressed as a ballerina. I had no idea who she was. He told me she was his younger sister who had died of a drug overdose, and he felt that her death was all his fault. Somehow, he thought, as her older brother, that he should have known and been able to prevent her death. In reality, he didn’t even know she was on drugs. As he shared his story with me, all of the grief, guilt and emotional pain he had been carrying for years, began dissipating and releasing from his emotional body. To my clairvoyant eyes, this grief and guilt looked like thick, black tar. The next day, he called and told me his back pain was tremendously alleviated.
Besides witnessing and clearing energy blockages, my gift also allows me to see my clients’ true selves, which often show up as animal totems. I have seen a single animal totem change a person’s life on many occasions.
Many years ago, when I was teaching a Reiki for Little Masters class, I was reading the students’ animal totems. One girl had a pony, one had a fairy, and one had a rooster. The child with the rooster was not pleased at all! In fact, she refused to speak with me for the rest of the day, because she had an ugly old rooster for a totem. I tried to explain to her that this totem represented boldness, leadership, enthusiasm, and was not afraid to wake people up!
Years later, I bumped into her at a community event. She came running up to me and asked me if I remembered her rooster. I sure did, as I do not get the privilege of meeting people with rooster totems very often. She went on to share that she had started at a new school, and despite not knowing anyone there, she was chosen as class president, and knew that her rooster got her the job! Later in life, she became a significant leader working as a human rights advocate.
What advice or guidance would you give to someone who is just starting their spiritual journey or exploring energy healing practices?
When I was in my twenties, if someone had told me that later in life I would be an energy worker, teacher, spiritual guide, and facilitating classes and healing sessions with people around the world, I would NEVER have believed them due to my self-doubt, fears, and feelings of unworthiness (which still challenge me today). These are part of our humanity, and the more we meet them with love and healing, the more we can move forward towards our divine destiny. Imagine your life as a picture puzzle, that your angels and the divine are helping you put together piece by piece.
