Body Code with Kim Hamson

Body Code with Kim Hamson

MysticMag has the opportunity of talking with Kim Hamson. Kim’s journey to becoming a certified body code practitioner, foot zoner, and emotion code practitioner started in 2016 when she sought alternative healing methods after going through a divorce and facing various health issues. Impressed by the results of her first body code session, Kim continued to explore natural healing routes, eventually discovering the benefits of foot zoning.

Can you explain the main differences between traditional talk therapy and the Body Code approach? How did the Body Code help you shift emotionally and bring about a new awareness of your mental state?

With body code being a type of energy work, there is no “talk therapy”; we don’t need to dive into the past with specifics. Sometimes an age for a specific emotion is needed. It is very common for a memory to pop into your head. I am not a mental health counselor therefore, talk therapy is not part of Body Code. With energy work, I am asking the subconscious mind yes or no questions and by using a set of charts, we go where the subconscious mind is needing you to go. Like an onion, we peel away one emotional layer at a time, removing years of emotional baggage along the way.
After years of a bad marriage leading to a divorce, I desperately sought help through a professional counselor. After 6 months with no improvements to my mental health, and struggling to adjust to a new life and having depression, I started searching for alternative natural healing methods. I found a Body Code practitioner and decided to give it a try. It was easy and didn’t require me to talk about or bring up the past. During each session, it felt like “weights were being lifted from me” making me feel “lighter” and happy. I eventually realized I didn’t have depression anymore and my life was finally settling down. Happiness was finally possible.

After witnessing the positive impact of Body Code sessions on your own life and the lives of others, you decided to pursue certification for Emotion Code and Body Code. Can you tell us more about the changes you’ve witnessed in relationships, emotional, mental and physical health through your practice?

I decided I wanted to get certified in the Emotion Code and Body Code because of what it did for me personally. It helped me finally feel free from all the traumatic situations I had been through throughout my life. I wanted to help share with others what it could do for them. It really does help release old stuck emotions and negative thought patterns. Based upon my experiences, energy work is real and can help a person heal better and more easily than with talk therapy. My new marriage in 2017 has become stronger and healthier. My moods and emotions are happier and healthier now. I feel more positive in life emotionally and spiritually. I’ve also seen gradual improvements in my overall physical health.

You mentioned having years of emotional baggage trapped in your body. Could you elaborate on how the Body Code sessions helped you release and heal from this trauma and stress?

I had a traumatic childhood. I often witnessed my father physically and emotionally abusing my mother, my parents brutal divorce, my mother getting remarried 3 other times, the death of both siblings (the youngest was run over in front of me), and so much more. With years of emotional trauma, I held onto emotions that I didn’t even know I had been accumulating throughout my life. I started having Body Code sessions done to be free of depression from a terrible marriage and a divorce. After that, I felt like I needed to work on my many traumatizing experiences from childhood as well as my physical health issues. After a few more sessions, I got “hooked” because I felt lighter after each session.

Before discovering Body Code, you mentioned searching for natural healing routes due to multiple health issues that doctors couldn’t diagnose. Can you elaborate?

For years I had lots of physical health challenges. There are actually studies now that have come out and said if you have had trauma and stressors in life it can affect the body in negative ways causing physical health issues. The Limbic System, part of the Nervous System (or what is called the emotional part of the brain), if it has had years of trauma, stress, and even toxins, it can put the body and mind into a constant fight/ flight/ freeze response. Therefore, causing the body to stay in the stress response which eventually leads to a dysregulated nervous system. All this leads to physical health issues. The nervous system is just trying to protect us in this manner, but instead it puts us in a chronic stress response for months or years. Having Body Code sessions done helps release the emotional side of things. I also personally added in other natural healing tools such as seeing a functional medicine doctor, detoxing, supplements, foot zoning, and even a nervousness regulation program for myself. These were all combined with Body Code sessions which allowed my body to finally function naturally, both physically and emotionally. Resulting in my own miracle, after 14 years of infertility, I found out I got pregnant in April 2023, meaning my mind, body, and spirit are finally connected and working together.

How do Foot Zoning and Body Code complement each other in your practice?

First off, foot zoning is only in person done locally where a practitioner is located, with me being located in the Kansas City Metro area. Foot zoning and Body Code are both types of energy work in a sense. Foot zoning is very similar to reflexology, but instead of just treating one organ or system of the body at a time or treating per symptom based, foot zoning treats the body as a whole system helping to bring the physical body back into balance. But remember, that the body holds onto emotions, which can cause unseen physical and emotional stress and tension. These tensions make it harder for the body to find its natural balance. During a foot zone, I can often feel areas that need extra help with emotions that are stuck in the area of the foot, so I recommend a Body Code session to my clients to further process these stuck emotion(s). If it helps, you can look at it this way. The human foot has 29 different muscles. In order to do the simple task of standing in place, several of these muscles are flexing and shifting together to help us achieve balance. Like the foot, the body also needs multiple forms of healing working together to achieve complete physical and emotional balance.

Animals can also be affected by imbalances and hold onto emotions. Could you share some stories or instances where you have successfully used Emotion Code and Body Code to help pets overcome sadness, depression, or anger?

Animals can be affected by more than just sadness, depression, and anger. It can affect their physical body as well. I worked on a ladies horse that was having issues performing for her with her long distance horse racing. The horse was just having trouble wanting to keep going and had very low energy. After I worked on the horse, I was told the horse was back to her energetic self and the riding felt lighter for the owner.
I also worked on a dog that was picked out from the pound. The owners told me she seemed to have attachment issues and hated the female owner. After doing a session on the dog, the dog climbed up to sit on the female owner’s lap and liked her finally. She hadn’t done that before. The dog also got better with her over attachment to the male owner.
I have also worked on a male cat that wants to bully the female cat sometimes. Before this started they were best friends being 6 months apart. After a few sessions, the owners told me the bullying has seemed to calm down mostly and the cat seems happier. They have no clue what changed the relationship with the 2 cats prior to Body Code, but now they can handle living in the same house together.
