How did your childhood on the island of Formentera influence your passion for animal communication, and what inspired you to delve into this field?

That’s a very big influence because of the fact that I was raised between Paris and Formentera. I was born in America, but when I was four years old, we moved to Europe, and I was raised between Paris and Formentera. In Paris, I didn’t have any access to animals at that time. However, when we lived on a farm in Spain, there were a lot of animals—donkeys, goats, sheep, a few horses, one cow, dogs, cats, and, of course, birds. It was a very primitive setting with no water or electricity, just a simple system. It was a close-to-nature life, and I used to be in touch with animals. As a kid, it was normal for me; I understood how they thought and felt, and what was going on for them.

To me, it was so normal that I never even thought of it as something different. It was absolutely the norm, and I would tell my parents. Luckily, my parents were open-minded writers, and it’s only when I started attending a French school, when I was a bit older and started going to a formal school, that I realized my way of perceiving things was a little different from other kids. However, as I didn’t want to be different from anyone else, I kept my mouth shut and didn’t speak about this much.

As one of the pioneers of animal communication in Europe, what challenges did you face in establishing this field, and how have you seen it evolve over the years?

Big challenges, really big. So, I started 25 years ago with proximity, and there was one person who was incredibly influential in my life. Let me tell you the whole story, and then you can take what you want. This is an American woman in Paris, no, in America. Yes, an American who lived in France. She asked me if I wanted to do a lecture in France, and I was living in LA at that time. I said yes, yes, yes; I was so happy to go back to Paris. She invited me to do this lecture in a bookstore in the east of France, and the people there were in an esoteric bookstore, so they were a bit more open-minded.

This woman came to see me; her name is Catherine Villeman, and she has a horse center on the east of France, right at the border with Germany. She came to hear me, and she said, ‘Oh my God, Lila, this is what I’ve been looking for. I want to bring you to my horse center.’ So she invited me to her horse center and introduced me to the national horse jumping. You know, the big stars and all the top people in the horse world. She opened everything for me; she was very important in my life. I recently saw her because now she lives in Costa Rica. She opened the doors to the horse world, but the beginnings were very difficult, very challenging.

I was talking about animals having feelings and emotions; I wasn’t even talking about consciousness yet—that came later. It was difficult, with a lot of challenges, obstacles, and people against me. Even when I made the movie in 2015, which was a lot about animal consciousness, the documentary faced challenges. They changed directors several times, and when they finally got to the new team, they scheduled it for August 8th, super early in the morning, because it was too challenging due to the topic of animal consciousness. I faced a lot of obstacles.

What type of services do you offer?

I offer different things. I specialize in animal communication. In French, I have six books and four sets of Oracle cards, with another one coming out soon in May. In English, I have a dubbed movie and one book. In Spanish, I have five books, and in Italian, I have two books. I am more well-known with the French, Spanish, and now Italian languages than in English. The primary service is animal communication. People usually call me when they have problems with their animals, like a cat urinating in the house, a dog breaking things, or a horse not jumping, among other issues.

Animal communication is one aspect of what I do. Another is giving consultations for deceased animals. This started happening later in my life when I began having medium experiences with the other side, seeing dead animals around people, and more. Although I don’t consider myself a real medium, I’ve had near-death experiences and connections with the other side, making people call me often for such matters. There’s a waiting list for these services due to the difficulty and emotional toll it takes.

My true specialty is healing sick animals. This stems from my own experience of nearly dying and being healed by spirit doctors in another dimension. This entire episode occurred in Mexico, and after many years and rigorous testing of my integrity, they granted me a group for animal healing. I focus on very challenging cases, such as animals with cancer, renal failure, and other difficult conditions. This is a significant part of my daily work.

Animals exhibit diverse communication styles. How do you adapt your approach to connect with different species, and are there any surprising similarities you’ve discovered in their ways of expressing themselves?

The similarity among all animals is that they have emotions, thoughts, and consciousness. They all unquestionably possess consciousness, but they exhibit different types of intelligence based on their species. In the movie titled ‘Connecting with Animals,’ which is now available on YouTube, this concept is vividly portrayed. The film showcases communication with various animals, including horses, monkeys, birds, crows, and cats. One can clearly observe in the movie that all these animals share consciousness; it’s just expressed in different forms of intelligence.

As someone deeply connected to nature and animals, how do you see the role of humans in fostering a more harmonious relationship with the natural world? Are there specific changes you advocate for in our interactions with animals?

A very good question. So, undoubtedly, we have to start taking action and understanding that animals have consciousness. This is crucial because many animals are facing extinction today. It falls upon us, as human beings, to take the initiative, as we cannot expect them to come towards us. They are the ones suffering, and their suffering is a result of our human actions. The first step is recognizing that they possess consciousness, and each animal plays a vital role in maintaining balance in the ecosystem. We must take steps to halt the destruction of habitats, pollution, and other harmful activities that are well-known and widespread on the internet.

Understanding consciousness is key, and in my perspective, learning animal communication is the way to achieve that. When we can feel an animal’s thoughts inside us, empathizing with their perspective, it changes a person forever. They start to perceive animals differently and can’t revert to old patterns of thinking. Once you truly understand, it stays with you. While other individuals, such as activists, writers, and those sharing information on the internet, are undoubtedly important, communication provides an internal understanding of how an animal feels and thinks. That is something that can never be taken away once you grasp it.

With your unique background and experiences, what advice would you give to individuals aspiring to enter the field of animal communication, and what qualities do you believe are essential for success in this domain?

I personally believe that everyone can develop the ability to communicate with animals. Some individuals may have a natural gift from the beginning, like I do. After many years, I admit that, yes, I do have a gift. Initially, I used to deny it and say, ‘No, I don’t have a gift; I’m the same as everyone else.’ However, it’s true that there was an innate ability from the start. So, yes, one can consider it a gift, but that doesn’t mean other people can’t learn it. Every person can learn to empathize, use telepathy, and understand others. That’s why I teach. I know that everyone can access this ability. Some may have a greater natural affinity, but it doesn’t matter. Everyone can learn and access it. I truly believe this is something that should be taught in schools, even though it currently isn’t. It should be because we can all do it.

I believe in this because it aligns with what I do. That’s why I have faith in it. The next thing is, I think if every person can perform one act of kindness towards animals—anything like feeding a stray cat or raising awareness among friends that animals have consciousness—every act of kindness is significant. This is what will make a difference for each individual. If everyone could perform one act of kindness, it would make an enormous difference.

I will be conducting a workshop in English on March 9 and 10 online, so anyone can access it from wherever they want. If they prefer the English language, as I often work in French and Spanish, details will soon be available on my website, including dates and registration information.
