How did empowerment and healing become your calling?
I first encountered chakra and energy body teachings when I was fresh out of college and working in business in New York City over 30 years ago. I was experiencing headaches and stomachaches that my doctor thought were stress related. He suggested I try a yoga or meditation class – which was not nearly as common as it is now. I found myself in a chakra meditation class, and I immediately realized I had been experiencing energy sensations my whole life, but hadn’t had the background to understand them as such. The meditation techniques I learned did make my headaches and stomachaches go away, and so began a lifelong quest into energy teachings, both from spiritual traditions and healing traditions.
Eventually, after many years of study, I made the career switch to do what I’m doing now because I believe every person can benefit from understanding the ‘energy technology’ at their disposal. It’s our birthright really, and most of us don’t know how to use it. I focus on ‘empowerment’ because to me this means giving people the tools to work with their energy bodies themselves, rather than becoming dependent upon a healer or teacher for external healing. Of course, receiving healing or energy transmissions from someone is valuable too, and I certainly do traditional transmitted energy healing. But what I’m really interested in is teaching people how to work with their own energy bodies, especially in daily life for better boundaries, health, personal growth, goal achievement, and more. That’s empowerment.
How does Chakra Empowerment work?
There are many ways to work with our chakras, or energy centers – through meditation, yoga, pranayama (yogic breathing), visualization, crystals, reiki, colors, mantras or sound healing, and more. There are also many other energy healing methods that aren’t centered on the chakras. In terms of chakra empowerment, my main focus is contemplative techniques that combine visualization, affirmations, and body/chakra focus. I prefer this approach because it means these tools can be used anywhere, anytime- they can become part of someone’s toolset as they move through daily life. I have developed custom sequences tied to specific energetic goals or shifts – for example, to strengthen grounding, boundaries, or manifesting. I also have tools for healing specific blocks, or for ‘rewriting’ emotional patterns related to trauma or past experiences that get locked into our energy body, and psyche. In addition, I focus on women’s energetics – how women’s energy bodies in particular change and shift during menstruation, pregnancy, perimenopause, and menopause, and what techniques we can utilize to maximize our health and power at these times.
What other empowerment and healing services do you offer?
In addition to my book Chakra Empowerment for Women, I also offer virtual private healing sessions and workshops, including a 3-month course tied to the book. I also have recently begun offering practitioner training for those interested in using contemplative energy tools in their own healing, coaching, or counselor work. I am certified in other techniques as well, including Feeding Your Demons, by Lama Tsultrim Allione, and will be offering more workshops on this method soon. Some offerings are general chakra empowerment work, and others are focused on one or more of my specialties: women’s life phases, sexual trauma healing, manifesting, energy boundaries (life as an empath), and kundalini management.
What can people expect from your classes and the events you organize?
Most of my work is virtual and split between guided energy work and teaching. In workshops, I welcome Q&A and help everyone pull together to maximize the energy available to all. However, individuals are always welcome to attend anonymously as well, if they let me know in advance they wish to do so (this can be particularly helpful to trauma survivors, who may not feel ready to participate in group work.) In private sessions, time is split between talking work and guided energy work – it varies according to whether someone is a verbal processor vs. a physical. Some of the work is distance healing, and other work is guided chakra empowerment. The individual can continue between sessions to learn for themselves how to shift their energy.
You are also an author. What can you tell me about that part of your work?
My main book is Chakra Empowerment for Women: Self-Guided Techniques for Healing Trauma, Owning Your Power & Finding Overall Wellness published by Llewellyn Worldwide. It is available in English, Spanish, Dutch, and Russian in addition to on Kindle, Nook, and as an Audiobook. It covers 12 contemplative empowerments based on women’s energetics that any woman can use both in daily life or as meditations to empower different aspects of their energy body.
I focused on women’s energetics in this book because traditional energy body teachings often don’t distinguish between men’s and women’s energy bodies. While the source energy coming through our energy body is non-gendered, the level connected to our physical body is tied to our hormonal levels and reproductive cycles, and the level connected to our emotions is often linked to gender conditioning. However a person identifies, we all need to own both our feminine and masculine energies as expressed in our energy bodies for greater health, wellness, empowerment, and awakening. So this book offers tools specifically for those who identify as women (though some tools are fine for anyone) to help them connect to their energy bodies in an empowered way, through any life phase.
Anything else you would like people to know?
Anyone can learn to access their energy body. You don’t have to ‘believe’ in anything or have a lot of conceptual knowledge about energy body mappings to begin. Just try some gentle chakra focus, give it a few weeks, and see what you feel. I have many clients who never imagined they would do chakra work and find it tremendously helpful in their daily lives. Give it a try!
