Can you tell us about The Sophia Mystery School for Extraordinary People and its mission and what inspired you to focus on empowering women in particular?
I co-founded the Sophia Mystery School in 2021 alongside my daughter, Megan. Before that, I had been mentoring and coaching women for over 20 years. My mission from the very beginning has been to support women in awakening from the cultural hypnosis that dictates the roles they should play and what they are capable of.
This mission began after the birth of my third child when I experienced postpartum depression. It was a turning point in my life where I realized that as women, we are the gates between spirit and form, and the birthing experience should be one of love, bonding, and support. However, I personally felt depressed, anxious, and miserable during that time. Determined to change this experience for women, I started searching for alternatives.
This was before the internet, so I scoured natural mothering magazines and stumbled upon an ad for HypnoBirthing, specifically the Marie Mongan style. This was 27 years ago, and my intuition guided me to get trained in this process. During the training, Marie shared the history of childbirth and pain, highlighting that it was mostly western women, particularly those who could afford hospital care, who experienced pain in childbirth.
Women supported by midwives at home had easier and safer births, while those in third world countries surrounded by women when giving birth experienced a more natural process with ease and joy. This revelation made me question what other lies, we as women, had been told.
Since then, my work has been focused on awakening women to their true power, freeing them from needless suffering under narratives that financially support the medical and pharmaceutical systems. I used to say that our power was being robbed, but the truth is, we give our power away out of fear. This realization ultimately inspired the creation of the Sophia Mystery School.
My daughter, who is now 34 years old, grew up immersed in this intuitive approach, following our inner wisdom. Together, we are committed to supporting women in connecting with their inner wisdom, trusting their bodies, intuition, and spirits so that fear no longer dictates their actions.
As a mystic, psychic, and conduit of Mary-Sophia, Mother of Jesus, how does this spiritual connection inform and guide your work and how does it contribute to your understanding of the transformation and empowerment of women?
The essence of my work is deeply influenced by the life of Mary Sophia, the mother of Jesus. She embodied the role of being a vessel for light and a catalyst for change. As women, we all possess the power to be vessels of light in various forms, whether it’s through writing a book, delivering a powerful speech, or raising children. Mary Sophia never lacked power in that role; she was chosen to be the conduit for light. It was a profoundly feminist act, as she wasn’t defined by her marital status, or the expectations imposed upon her. Despite potential negative judgment, she exhibited immense courage and embraced her true self, proving that wisdom and enlightenment flowed through her. This aspect guides my work: awakening women to recognize their own ability to be vessels of light. By releasing the fear of others’ opinions and judgments we can collectively transform the world.
In your experience what are some common challenges or obstacles that women face when it comes to reclaiming their power and embodying their divinity?
The fear of what others will think, and the impostor syndrome are common challenges that many women face. The doubt and self-questioning of “Who am I to bring this to the world?” can be significant obstacles to overcome. Impostor syndrome often arises when we feel inadequate or undeserving of our own successes and ambitions.
Additionally, our intuition, which is often illogical and goes against conventional expectations can create further doubts. We may seek advice and opinions from loved ones who want to protect us, but they may inadvertently steer us away from following our intuition. Trusting ourselves and standing on our own platform, even when everything around us seems to be saying otherwise, requires tremendous courage.
Having a mentor or coach who can provide guidance and support becomes vital in this process. They can validate our experiences, affirm that intuition, and share countless personal stories and those of clients who have taken similar leaps of faith and witnessed transformative changes in their lives.
Your clients experience a transformation in their self-worth, confidence, and various aspects of their lives. Could you elaborate on the process or practices you utilize to help women access and trust their inner wisdom?
One of the transformative processes I utilize in my work is shadow integration, combined with Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). This approach allows the women I work with to delve into their unconscious beliefs, which often inform around 98% of the decisions we make. Through shadow integration, we uncover unconscious desires that are being fulfilled, even if they contradict our conscious desires.
For example, someone may consciously want to build a successful six or seven-figure business, but if there is an unconscious desire to stay hidden out of fear or a need for safety, that desire will ultimately prevail. By identifying these unconscious desires through shadow work, we open the door to profound life transformation. It becomes clear that what we have been manifesting is aligned with our deepest desires, even if we weren’t consciously aware of those desires.
This realization empowers my clients to recognize their own power and understand that they have never been deprived. Additionally, utilizing EFT within this process helps address the emotions that arise, as uncovering unconscious desires can often bring forth a range of emotions including, those that are the most poisonous…shame and guilt. The combination of shadow integration and EFT allows my clients to break through blocks, understand their own role in achieving their goals, and realize that they have the power to manifest what they truly desire.
You host sacred medicine retreats and spiritual retreats around the world. What is the significance and impact of these retreats in supporting humanity’s awakening to their divinity and power?
Plant medicines offer a powerful means of accelerating personal growth and transformation. Scientific research suggests that we typically utilize only a fraction of our brain’s potential, but plant medicines have the ability to activate dormant parts of the brain. They make our minds more malleable, allowing us to shift our beliefs and emotions in ways that were previously inaccessible.
Through the use of plant medicines, we can enter realms of consciousness that transcend our ordinary waking state. In these realms, we move beyond mere theorizing and directly experience our interconnectedness and oneness with all Life. One of the profound effects of these journeys is the dissolution of the ego, leading to a sense of unity with nature, animals, and everything around us.
This experience takes us beyond the limitations of polarized thinking, allowing us to see the beauty within the seemingly negative and the shadows within the positive. The mind expands and opens up, facilitating accelerated healing of past traumas, both conscious and unconscious, that may be holding us back as individuals and as a collective humanity.
Access to plant medicines and embarking on these transformative journeys can fundamentally change who we are at our core, influencing how we show up in the world and impacting others at a fundamental level. The ripple effect of plant medicines is truly profound, creating a ripple of positive transformation that extends far beyond our individual experiences.
