Revitalizing Radiance: The Holistic Approach to Skin Health with Jacina Coyne

Embark on a fascinating journey into the realm of holistic skincare with Jacina Coyne, as she shares her expertise in an exclusive interview with MysticMag. Renowned for her unique fusion of Master Usui Reiki, Master Tung acupuncture, and facial acupuncture, Jacina provides insights into the distinctive qualities that set facial acupuncture apart from traditional methods.

MysticMag delves into the science behind this transformative practice, unraveling how controlled microtrauma stimulates blood flow, collagen production, and microcirculation, promising remarkable benefits for skin health.

Explore with us as Jacina unveils the ideal candidates for facial acupuncture, its advantages over invasive procedures, and the key lifestyle and skincare recommendations that accompany this rejuvenating journey.

How does facial acupuncture differ from traditional acupuncture, and what specific benefits does it offer for skin health and rejuvenation?

I use both my Master Usui Reiki and Master Tung acupuncture (body acupuncture) alongside facial acupuncture. Facial acupuncture is a microsystem focused on the face whereas traditional acupuncture is more about the overall health of the body. I use body acupuncture to address constitutional imbalances and improve your emotional state. Acupuncture’s strength is that it can address emotional imbalances. In acupuncture, every organ is associated with an emotion. When we are in a good emotional state we radiate positive energy. Our face can hold stress, anxiety, worry, and other emotions and facial acupuncture is just one of many ways we can break negative thought processes.

Can you explain the science behind facial acupuncture and how it stimulates collagen production and improves overall skin appearance?

From a Western perspective, we are creating a controlled microtrauma to specific acupuncture points which stimulate: blood flow, collagen production, and microcirculation. If we compare this treatment to microneedling (where many tiny needles stimulate the whole face where we can see up to a 200% increase in collagen induction); microneedling is more like a blanket covering of the face whereas facial acupuncture is a more refined pinpoint stimulation. I also offer medical microneedling but that is less suitable for more sensitive skin types.

What types of skin conditions or concerns respond well to facial acupuncture, and are there any limitations or contraindications for certain individuals?

Contraindications are mainly people with blood clotting issues, I would not treat pregnant patients or people with weakened immune systems. Anyone who has hemophilia or other hereditary blood clotting issues. Any current serious known medical condition such as cancer I would not treat. If someone is on blood thinners we can still treat them but we have to be aware and exercise caution.

The skin conditions that I feel best respond to facial acupuncture are: dark under-eye circles, uneven skin tone and texture, dull skin, heat conditions, and acne. With all treatments, I can help make dietary recommendations. I work with people to help them understand the better choices they can make to improve their health. Our face is a reflection of our general well-being. I strongly feel that healthy unprocessed foods, filtered water, exercise, sunshine, and fresh air are so important. We are also living in a time when people are less and less connected to themselves and other people.

The only claims that are acceptable to make about acupuncture are that it is proven effective for back pain and increases microcirculation. To make other claims would be unreasonable however look at my website and see my photos and you can see the results for yourself.

How many sessions are typically recommended for noticeable results, and what factors can influence the effectiveness of facial acupuncture treatments?

Younger clients need fewer treatments and everyone responds differently. If you come to me and your skin is already almost perfect you are not going to notice much of a change. Some clients see a difference after one session and others can take 3-5 sessions.

When clients allow me to emotionally connect with them then I am able to help them more. People who are already fairly healthy and looking after themselves will need fewer sessions. Everyone has different health factors that will impact their results and these are all individual.

Are there any specific lifestyle or skincare recommendations you provide to clients undergoing facial acupuncture to enhance and maintain the results?

Diet, exercise, natural skincare routine, and protection of their emotional well-being space. Many other things can help such as LED light therapy devices (where appropriate). Eating living food with life force energy, avoiding processed foods, microwaves, cling film, aluminum cookware, and so on.

I am not a fan of veganism, I see many people who are not eating in tune with the seasons. Many people are overconsuming cold and raw foods during winter and we live in a cold damp climate. We each need to understand our type and what foods best support our constitutional type.

I recommend Reiki – and I am going to be teaching that this year in small groups in London. Reiki is an alternative healing method that you can use to improve your quality of life and heal yourself and others. Reiki can help you master your own physiology to avoid being triggered or acting out of a fear mindset. Reiki can help enable you to live a free and authentic existence. Reiki has different levels and you can incorporate Reiki daily into your life. Reiki is about love and healing life force and it can transform your life if you embrace the teachings. In Reiki, we are able to let go of attachment to past or future outcomes and we do not express our desires as absolutes but merely as preferences “I prefer this x or something better”. Healing love Reiki energy allows us to operate from a place of abundance and trust and this energy overflows into every aspect of our lives.

In comparison to other non-surgical facial rejuvenation methods, what advantages does facial acupuncture offer, and what kind of clients are most likely to benefit from this approach?

One of the great benefits is that there are minimal side effects, I am stimulating your own body’s healing abilities to improve your appearance. Aside from the possibility of an occasional bruise the side effects are minimal, unlike more invasive procedures such as fillers or Botox. Anyone can benefit from this, there is no downtime, minimal risks and there is nothing you can’t do afterward as a result.

Facial acupuncture will not erase deep-set wrinkles, it will however improve your appearance and if you try a less invasive method you can always opt for a more invasive method if that is what you think you need. I have no judgment about anyone’s choices; I respect everyone’s right to decide. If someone wants to have Botox, fillers, surgery, or anything else then that is their choice and sovereign right to do so. That being said I would also ask clients to wait until after their filler or Botox has settled. Facial acupuncture tends to expedite the removal of Botox, so if it has been recently done I would avoid touching that area.

I think that anyone can benefit from facial acupuncture, it is often the clients who are willing to put the advice given into action who get the best results.
