How does Divine Way integrate Feng Shui and Taoist principles into its services?

Divine Way integrates Feng Shui and Taoist principles by tuning the environment to create harmony between the space and the people within it. This is achieved by adjusting the sensory aspects of the environment, which essentially aligns the energy of the place itself. In traditional practices, this might involve placing or rearranging objects, or using specific colors to balance energies.

Divine magic, or what we refer to as divine Taoist magic, also tunes an individual’s energy as well as the energy of spaces. For instance, if there’s negative energy or “Sha Chi” (bad energy or “poison arrows” that affect a space), we use talismans—special objects with distinct energies—to either deflect or enhance certain environmental aspects. These talismans can be imbued into various items to amplify or protect the energy within a space.

For example, before moving into a new home, lingering negative energy left by previous residents may need to be cleared, or natural negative energy may have accumulated if a space has been abandoned for a long time. Using Taoist practices, we can dispel these unwanted energies and create a balanced, positive environment for the new inhabitants.

Can you explain the significance of the Divine Magic Academy?

Divine Magic within Taoism is a blend of various practices and belief systems. Our approach to divine magic has a lineage that originates in China, tracing back to practices developed hundreds of years ago. Originally, divine magic served as a tool for protection. In those times, travel was challenging and fraught with dangers, without the modern conveniences of cars or planes. Certain groups, such as nomads, used divine magic to help them navigate difficulties and protect themselves from threats they encountered along the way.

The initial teachings of divine magic focused on practical solutions to everyday issues. For example, if someone cut their hand, divine magic could help stop the bleeding; if they burned themselves, it could reduce swelling; or if they choked on a fish bone, it provided a remedy. There’s also a belief within Chinese culture that energies in nature can sometimes mislead travelers, especially in rugged terrain, and certain mantras or spells were used to help clear the way.

Divine magic also addresses negative energies, which some interpret as “ghosts” or manifestations of harmful forces. We use specific methods to dispel these energies and to protect ourselves by raising one’s frequency, making it harder for such negative influences to affect us. Many students today learn divine magic to enhance their positive energies and improve their quality of life.

In modern times, while we face fewer physical dangers, the challenges are more often within our immediate environment—such as workplaces and personal relationships. Through divine magic, practitioners can attune the energy around them, fostering better relationships and, in some cases, distancing themselves from negative influences. This practice continues to help people enhance their surroundings and their interactions, bringing a sense of balance and protection to their lives.

What role does cultural diversity play in your approach to Feng Shui?

We have to recognize that, much like religion, cultural diversity has shaped the practices of Feng Shui. Fundamentally, I believe all religions share a common origin; what sets them apart are cultural differences—such as language, climate, local customs, and geography—that influence how they develop. Feng Shui, or “Fonsui,” is no exception; it evolved within Chinese culture and has strong cultural symbols that have become integral to it.

There’s an ongoing debate about whether Feng Shui is religious. The answer is both yes and no. Taoism, for instance, is an organized religion, but it also incorporates much of Chinese culture. Feng Shui is one of those cultural practices, which is why Taoist symbols, such as dragons and the eight trigrams (Pakua), appear in Feng Shui, as they are also Chinese cultural symbols. While Feng Shui itself isn’t inherently religious, its connection to Chinese culture makes it closely linked to Taoist elements. This overlap can make it difficult to fully separate the two.

In Western or English-speaking contexts, many practitioners emphasize separating Feng Shui from religion, focusing on its role in balancing energy within a space. This often involves moving objects or arranging a home or office to encourage positive energy flow. For example, instead of constructing a structure to block harmful energy (or “poison arrows”), specific objects can be used to deflect that energy. This approach allows Feng Shui to be accessible to people from various cultural and spiritual backgrounds, preserving its essence while adapting to diverse contexts.

How do ceremonies like ground-breaking and appeasement rituals benefit clients?

In traditional Chinese belief, disturbing the ground—whether through digging or construction—releases negative or unstable energies. There’s no such thing as a “good” ground-breaking, so when we choose a day for it, we’re selecting one that can help minimize the impact of those energies.

For example, after a rainstorm, if the sun suddenly comes out, you might notice steam rising from the ground. Breathing in this steam is sometimes believed to cause illness, which we attribute to “bad energy.” Similarly, when breaking ground at a site that’s been abandoned or is energetically “unclean,” we conduct ceremonies to manage these energies. Ground-breaking rituals aim to expel bad energy and stabilize the site before work begins.

During renovations, the physical disruption can make the energy in a home or office unsteady, leading to potential accidents or other disruptions. The ground-breaking ceremony helps suppress these energies to ensure a safer and smoother renovation process.

Once the renovation is complete, the space still needs time to “settle.” That’s where the appeasement ritual comes in. This ceremony “seals” the energy back into the ground and restores stability, using tools such as Taoist talismans to suppress lingering negative energy and enhance positive energy. By performing these ceremonies, we aim to ensure a harmonious environment for clients, both during and after construction.

What personalized solutions does Divine Way offer for life analysis and name selection?

When we conduct a life analysis, we consider a person’s year, month, day, and exact time of birth, along with their location and unique circumstances. Unlike simplified Western astrology, where people are grouped into star signs based on birth dates, life analysis requires a deeper look into the individual’s natal chart. This detailed approach allows us to understand a person’s unique characteristics and how different life environments and cultural factors might shape them.

Life analysis isn’t meant to be a precise prediction; instead, it’s a guideline. For instance, two people born at the same time may share certain traits, but due to differences in upbringing, culture, or environment, they may lead very different lives. To illustrate, someone with a “king’s life” in traditional analysis might, in a modern context, become a CEO, a president, or a leader in some form. But if they were born in a remote village, they might serve as a village leader rather than a national figure. Customizing life analysis means looking at these factors to help individuals understand where they might thrive—whether in a certain profession or even in a particular region of the world.

As for name selection, this is more complex. In Chinese culture, we often use the number of strokes in a name to align it with a person’s life configuration. I frequently receive requests for English name selection, but as of now, I haven’t developed a system for non-Chinese names due to the lack of a similar structure in other languages.

How does Master Louis make geomancy services accessible for clients of various backgrounds?

Geomancy, or Feng Shui, is quite flexible and adaptable internationally, as it’s based on logical principles rather than rigid or illogical practices. This approach makes it more accessible to people of different backgrounds. Ideally, a comprehensive Feng Shui audit would be done in person, as it allows me to observe the environment directly, assess the surroundings, and discuss specific goals with the client. This in-person assessment provides the best results, as it allows me to experience the energy of the space.

However, I offer several options to accommodate different situations. For example, I can work with clients before they renovate a new house, or I can help those who have been living in their home for some time and wish to make changes to enhance their energy. Each consultation is tailored to the client’s needs. For personalized results, I consider the birth data of the occupants, which helps me recommend changes that align with their individual energy profiles.

This approach applies to homes, offices, and even businesses. In offices, for instance, I might identify ideal locations for the CEO’s office or key personnel, as well as important spots like the main entrance or cashier areas.

In recent times, with the growth of remote communication, some clients prefer online consultations via platforms like Zoom. While I have conducted virtual audits, I must acknowledge that they have certain limitations. Being physically present provides a fuller sense of the energy of a space, something that is often missed in virtual sessions, even with tools like 360° video tours.
