When I first launched the California Psychics site, there were 60 psychics online ready to assist me. However, in total, there are close to 500 psychics registered on the website.
The site offers readings across 9 different topics – here’s a look at some of the most popular:
- Love and Relationships – All 60 psychics offered love and relationship readings. All of whom had some great ratings from previous clients, ranging from 4.2 to 4.9 on a 1-5 star scale.
- Money and Finance – I found 24 psychics offering money and finance readings.

- Pets and Animals – And if you want to connect with a pet who has crossed over, you have the option of 13 different psychic advisors.
California Psychics offers a small selection of reading topics, but I find that makes it much easier to find the right advisor.
What’s more, you can narrow down your search even further based on different tools and psychic abilities.
Oranum
Oranum has one of the largest selections of reading topics. I found over a thousand psychics offering readings in 13 categories and 60 subcategories, many of which I had never heard of before. Here are some of the unique categories you can explore over and above the usual suspects:
- Eastern – I found over 100 psychics offering Eastern readings. This category is further broken down into 13 subcategories including, Tik Pan San Sou, I-Ching Tarot, Book of Three Lives, and more.
- Rituals and Energies – If you are interested in rituals and energy readings, you have over 100 psychics to choose from. This category includes subcategories like reiki healing, holistic healing, and more.
- Other Category – Like most categories on Oranum, there are over 100 psychics offering readings that fall under their “Other Category”. This includes animal, angel, coffee readings and more.
When it comes to the variety of reading categories, Oranum clearly offers a lot more than California Psychics. You’ll also find a bounty of advisors – literally too many to count. Keep in mind, however, that this might be a little overwhelming if you’re a beginner.

California Psychics vs. Oranum: Pricing
California Psychics
California Psychics is not the most expensive psychic website out there, but they aren’t the cheapest either. Their introductory offer is great, allowing you to schedule a reading for as low as $1 per minute. However, after you exhaust that offer, most psychics charge anywhere from $4 to $15 per minute.
California Psychics has 3 different pricing packages. Each package is linked to different levels of psychics. The most affordable package is linked to their popular psychics, which means you can only schedule readings with psychics tagged as popular. The other two packages are for their preferred and premium psychics.
Even though this pricing is simple, it would be more ideal if you could first see which psychics fall under each category before choosing a package.
Oranum
Oranum’s pricing structure is also based on packages. New users can choose from 3 price packages with a range of credits, and each of them comes with bonus credits too.
As an added bonus, if you validate your credit card upon signing up, you receive an additional $9.99 worth of credits. This is enough for a 10 minute reading depending on the psychic you choose.
I also liked the fact that Oranum puts a cap on the amount a psychic can charge for a reading, which is $9.99 per minute. I even found some psychics charging as low as $0.39 per minute, making Oranum quite affordable when compared to California Psychics.

California Psychics vs. Oranum: Website Usability
California Psychics
California Psychics’ website has a straightforward layout that I found very easy to use. Even though it’s a simple layout, the website has a ton of useful features to help make your search for the right psychic as easy as possible.
For instance, you can filter your search based on various reading categories, tools, and psychic abilities. You can also narrow your search further based on the psychic’s price and reading style.
Each psychic has a detailed profile to help you decide if an advisor is worth your while. You’ll find ratings, reviews, the year they joined California Psychics, and more.
I was also excited about California Psychics’ mobile app, which is even easier to use. Being able to get a phone or chat reading on the go can really come in handy, especially when you need advice on a pressing issue.
The only feature I didn’t like was the fact that the site chose a pricing package for me when I created an account. This meant I had to backtrack to the pricing page to select my preferred package before I created an account.
Oranum
Oranum’s website is the complete opposite of California Psychics’. I mentioned earlier that Oranum has over a thousand psychics as well as a vast number of reading categories. Unfortunately, this bounty of options clutters the website significantly.
When I say there are over a thousand psychics on Oranum, I mean I stopped counting after 1,000 – there are a lot more than that. Imagine trying to sift through that many psychics to find the best fit – overwhelming, indeed.
And Oranum doesn’t do much to ease this clutter. Psychics can attach whatever they want on their profiles, including random photographs, videos, and so on. But at the same time, those profiles lack important information that can help you decide which psychic to choose, such as their number of readings and reviews.
To be fair, I’m not saying I didn’t find any reviews on psychics’ profiles at all. Rather, Oranum psychics choose which reviews get displayed on their profile, which simply doesn’t help paint a full picture of how good (or bad) the psychic is.
Oranum also has an app, but it doesn’t get any better. In fact, the app is even worse – I couldn’t even view psychic profiles.
But I liked Oranum’s sign-up process – all that’s required is your email, along with the username and password of your choice.

California Psychics vs. Oranum: Trustworthiness
California Psychics
Having been in operation for more than 25 years, California Psychics showcases praiseworthy reliability. Additionally, after reading several positive reviews about their psychic profiles, my confidence in their services was further strengthened.
California Psychics is renowned for its stringent selection procedure, which is considered one of the most thorough in the industry. Aspiring psychics are required to undergo a comprehensive four-stage process over the course of a month, encompassing a background investigation, a pair of assessments, and a web-based instructional course. California Psychics asserts that a mere 2% of applicants are ultimately chosen to join their ranks.
As an added bonus, the site offers a generous 100% money-back guarantee. If you’re not satisfied with a reading, you can request a refund.
Oranum
Oranum, on the other hand, has been around for less than a decade. While this isn’t a deal-breaker on trustworthiness, it pales in comparison to the time-tested California Psychics.
Further, I couldn’t find much detail about how Oranum screens their psychics. And with over a thousand advisors from all over the world, I would imagine that their screening process is nowhere near as rigorous as California Psychics’ month-long, 4-step process.
Usually, when I come across a psychic website with a vague screening process, I rely heavily on reviews from former clients. But Oranum psychics have the freedom to display only the reviews they choose, rather than all reviews. That seemed too biased for my liking, so I couldn’t really trust and rely on those reviews.
And as far as a money-back guarantee is concerned, you won’t find one on Oranum. However, they do have a very responsive customer service department that you can complain to, but without an actual satisfaction guarantee policy, you might never get a refund for a bad reading.

Oranum
Psychics on Oranum are required to host free live video shows every week. This is by far the most generous and unique feature I have seen on a psychic website.
Oranum’s video shows allow you to view their psychics live without requiring you to sign up, and you can even ask them questions via chat. Psychics will respond and use tools to showcase their skills and abilities.
And like California Psychics, Oranum has a blog section with helpful articles on a variety of topics that can help answer your questions even without a reading.

The Bottom Line on California Psychics vs. Oranum
Both websites offer everything you could possibly want in terms of finding a psychic for a reading. However, website usability and pricing are the two differences that stand out the most.
Overall, I found California Psychics to be a better choice than Oranum.
This doesn’t mean that Oranum isn’t worth a look. It simply means that my experience with both sites left me feeling confident that most people will prefer what California Psychics has to offer.
That being said, your needs should determine the psychic site you choose:
- If you’re looking for a psychic site with affordable readings, a wide variety of topics, tons of psychics to choose from and free live video shows, then Oranum is your best choice.
- But if you’re looking for a transparent, trustworthy, easy-to-use psychic website with decades of experience, then California Psychics is the best choice.
