How did you become interested in homeopathy, and what motivated you to become a homeopathic practitioner?

I became interested in homeopathy when my then nine-month-old son repeatedly suffered from ear infections. He was prescribed antibiotics around six or seven times within an 8-month period. It seemed like the infection would go away, but it kept coming back. The doctors suggested putting tubes in his ears, but I wasn’t comfortable with that surgical procedure, despite its commonality. I had a feeling that something wasn’t right. I went looking to see if I could find another option.

Ironically, it was my own mother who suggested trying a homeopath. I had never heard of homeopathy before, and she mentioned that homeopaths were really effective. This was before the internet era, so I used the Yellow Pages to find a homeopath. There were only two listings, and both of them were an hour away from our home. I decided to try one of them.

I brought my 16- to 17-month-old son to the homeopath. Even though he couldn’t speak yet, the homeopath spent about an hour and a half interviewing me and observing him, asking questions about my son’s sleeping position, behaviors, and food preferences. I was initially confused about how these factors related to his ear infections. Nevertheless, the homeopath gave me two small pellets to place in my son’s mouth. He took them without any issues, and miraculously, he never had another ear infection. I was amazed by the results.

I tucked this experience away in the back of my mind, finding it intriguing. Several months later, when my son fell ill again with something else, I returned to the homeopath, who provided more pellets, and my son recovered. This piqued my interest even further. In 2000, I began seriously considering homeopathy, and by 2003, I enrolled in a school to study this field. I was determined to learn more about homeopathy because I believed it held great potential. That’s how I got started on this journey.

Can you explain the fundamental principles of homeopathy and how they differ from conventional medicine?

Wow, that’s a significant question. Homeopathy is a form of energy medicine. Unlike pharmaceuticals or vitamins that contain material substances requiring digestion, homeopathy doesn’t need to be digested. Instead, it resonates with your energy pattern. In nature, each substance, when highly diluted and prepared as a homeopathic remedy, loses its physical presence. These remedies are then administered on tiny sugar pellets. Interestingly, all homeopathic remedies, regardless of their source, taste the same because they consist of highly diluted, energized water, which has undergone a process of dilution and succussion. Succussion involves vigorous shaking or pounding on a substance, ensuring the water is energized. These remedies can be derived from various sources within nature, including plants, minerals, animals, and even bodily substances. Homeopathy encompasses a wide range of possibilities for its preparation.

What conditions or health issues do you find most responsive to homeopathic treatments, and are there any that you believe are not suitable for homeopathic remedies?

I believe that homeopathy serves as an excellent complementary medicine to other forms of treatment. I wouldn’t say there’s a specific situation where it’s not appropriate to use. I’ve never been the type to suggest using homeopathy exclusively, especially in cases of severe conditions like cancer, where conventional treatments are usually necessary. However, when dealing with side effects of treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation, or skin rashes caused by medical procedures, homeopathy can offer valuable assistance. It complements these treatments effectively.

Currently, I encounter many symptoms. They range from COVID and covid vaccine-related issues to those arising from childhood vaccines, as well as common problems like flu, colds, ear infections, skin conditions, depression, anxiety, and digestive troubles. The spectrum is quite broad.

What keeps me engaged in this field are the unique stories of the individual. Everyone’s experience and lifestyle are distinct. For example, each person’s experience of a migraine headache is slightly different. Consequently, our choice of remedies is highly individualized. To provide the right treatment, I typically ask numerous questions to understand how a person experiences their specific condition. Homeopathy, in this sense, is a personalized approach that can complement any medical regimen.

Homeopathy often involves a holistic approach to health. Could you describe how you consider a patient’s physical, emotional, and mental well-being when developing a treatment plan?

When I conduct an intake, it’s a comprehensive process that typically lasts over two hours, often even longer, and involves a substantial amount of paperwork. During this, my clients provide me with a detailed timeline of their life, starting from birth up to their present circumstances. This timeline includes information about traumas, vaccinations, medications, grief, and various life events. The objective is to understand the layers of issues a person is dealing with. For some, it’s primarily a physical concern; for example, they might say, “I’m generally doing well in life, but my right knee is causing me a lot of pain.” In such cases, we primarily focus on the physical aspect of their health. However, we also consider their overall well-being.

On the other hand, for example, some individuals have a significant amount of grief woven into their life’s timeline. This grief might stem from the loss of a family member, a pet, or employment issues, among other things. The body often reflects these emotional experiences. Therefore, my approach is to assess the predominant issues that need to be addressed first. It’s a highly individualized process since everyone’s situation is unique.

What type of services do you offer?

Currently, due to the impact of COVID-19, I conduct most of my sessions online through Zoom. This approach has been quite beneficial, allowing me to have appointments with clients over video calls. I maintain active communication with my clients, often using texts and emails. My primary goal is to ensure that people fully comprehend their treatment and how it operates. Therefore, I place a significant emphasis on explaining the process to my clients.

In terms of the services I provide, I offer homeopathic care as needed. This can encompass holistic care for the entire individual, assisting them in overcoming various health challenges. For example, some clients may seek my support when dealing with the flu or other acute health issues, and I’m readily available to provide assistance in such situations. Additionally, I serve as a source of practical and grounded advice. Given my unique perspective on the body, healing, and alternative approaches, I often offer insights and share resources with my clients, which I believe can be quite valuable. In essence, my practice primarily revolves around homeopathic care.

In addition to homeopathic remedies, what other lifestyle changes or complementary therapies do you recommend supporting your patients’ healing processes?

That’s an excellent question, and the approach I take varies depending on the individual’s specific needs and circumstances. When I conduct an intake assessment, I have a section on my paperwork dedicated to self-care. This section helps me understand various aspects of a person’s daily life. I inquire about their sleep quality, water intake, digestive health, exercise routine, and mindfulness practices.

By gathering this information, I can make connections and identify potential areas for improvement. For instance, if someone is consistently fatigued and doesn’t consume much water, I may suggest increasing their water intake to see if it has a positive impact on their energy levels.

I also consider the broader context of a person’s life. If someone is in a toxic relationship or facing other stressors, I might discuss the potential benefits of making changes for their overall well-being. Sometimes, homeopathic remedies can inspire individuals to take positive steps towards improving their physical and mental health.

In essence, there are numerous ways to approach homeopathic care, and it’s highly individualized based on the person’s unique situation and needs.

How do you practice self-care?

I prioritize getting enough sleep, ensuring I stay hydrated by always keeping a glass of water nearby. I do yoga once or twice a week and swim 60 laps twice a week. Additionally, I go for a walk one or two times a week, covering two to three miles each time. Meditation is also an essential part of my routine, which I do approximately four to six days a week, usually for about 15 minutes per session. These practices are crucial for maintaining my mental and physical well-being during life’s challenges. I also pay close attention to my diet, and I firmly believe in practicing what I preach to others.

What do you like most about your profession?

I find immense satisfaction in observing positive transformations in individuals’ lives. It’s incredibly rewarding to witness improvements in their health, lifestyle, and decision-making as we work together. Whether it’s noticeable changes like weight loss, reduced illness occurrences, or making smarter choices, these moments are genuinely life changing. Helping people on their journey to better health, both mentally and physically, through homeopathic medicine and guidance, is my passion. My ultimate goal is to guide individuals towards a healthier, more balanced state in all aspects of their lives—mentally, emotionally, and physically.
