Carell Mehl's Journey to Ki Lifestyle: Transformation and Healing

Carell Mehl's Journey to Ki Lifestyle: Transformation and Healing

In her mid-thirties, Carell Mehl hit a crisis point, feeling lost and unfulfilled despite her outwardly successful life. She sensed a powerful, guiding connection within her. Turning to Reiki in 1997, she felt an immediate shift, realizing the importance of managing both her and others’ energy. Becoming a Reiki Master in 2000, she delved into Shamanism in 2001.

By 2005, Carell left her corporate career, joining a holistic clinic, but her true calling was teaching. In 2001, she founded Ki Lifestyle, dedicating herself to Reiki, Shamanic Reiki, and energy healing. This transformative journey brought her peace, happiness, a rekindled marriage, and a profound connection she now calls her ‘connection to Spirit.’ Let Carell help you find your path.

Find out more in this MysticMag interview.

How do you integrate the principles and practices of Reiki and Shamanism in your teachings and sessions? Can you share an example of a particularly impactful experience that resulted from this integration?

Reiki is very much a free-flowing energy and with the addition of intention, it comes through in a powerful way to complement Shamanic healing techniques.  Reiki has honed and amplified my intuitive, psychic abilities and Shamanism has taught me how to meet up with myself to do my inner work and further my development.   Shamanism addresses and brings forth ways to work with the Shadow and in doing so Reiki softens the landing of it all.   Reiki is love and Shamanism is power. It is really about listening to what is required when working with energy and the universal field of knowing. The alchemy in both are unique but when weaved together it creates a powerful and strong connection.  Training to understand the unique qualities and how to work with them is recommended.  Both are taught separately to understand their unique and powerful qualities and then taught together and done in real healing situations that allow us to really see the power of it coming together.

As a Reiki Master Teacher and Shamanic Teacher, what is your philosophy when it comes to educating and mentoring students? How do you create an environment that fosters both spiritual growth and practical skill development?

This is a journey that is not for the light-hearted.  But there are many ways to step onto this path.  I encourage each student to find their whys and unique gifts and talents.  I also let them know I am here for support and provide an environment to learn and grow.  The biggest piece is commitment.  We never arrive at a destination we are always learning and growing.  Practice and keep working on ourselves to learn to open our hearts and enjoy the journey and the unfolding process.  Each one of us has to find our own way but doing it alone is not enough, being in a community with support is way more doable in a world that is constantly changing.

Could you provide an overview of your Assertiveness Mastery Program? How does it draw from your background in Reiki, Shamanism, and other disciplines? What inspired you to create this program?

The Assertiveness Mastery Program is a way to stand in your own circle of self-governance with folks who are challenging in our lives.  We learn from these challenges but we are never taught life skills and strategies how to not take it so personally.  Everything that I have learned in my own healing journey and experiences has led to the development and creation of this program.  As a practitioner the tools I have helped clients gain a new perceptive and a way to show up in the world by understanding our own energy, how it flows, how we read the field unconsciously and automatic reactions, allows us to make better choices, learn how to negotiate with both sides having a win, relieves health and mental symptoms that we can often find leaving us depleted. Often blaming their environments because of what it mirrored back in a way that kept them in a victim mentality.  Reiki and Shamanism are both about energy and it is really all based on the quantum field, our chakra system, and luminosity.

I found many people were attracted to this work because they wanted to have more productive and happy lives but lacked the confidence and understanding of why they were in the chaos or situations that were created.

Your background spans various disciplines. How do you believe the combination of Reiki, Shamanism, and assertiveness training contributes to a person’s holistic empowerment and well-being?

Their unique contribution to my personal development and how  I was able to develop my unique gifts, and talents, healing my body, mind, and spirit. It is about the whole person, physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and life force that inspired me to want to bring forth a way of understanding these ancient wisdom teachings that have brought so much healing for myself and my family.  My connection to nature and everything on the planet, good or bad, black or white. Appreciating duality and how it allows me to be able to know what I want and what I don’t want. At the end of the day, I feel enriched and empowered in my life.

Can you share a story from one of your clients or students who underwent a significant transformational journey through your guidance? How did your combined expertise in Reiki, Shamanism, and assertiveness play a role in their journey?

I had one client who came from a financial background with your usual accounting degree and quite frankly was a bit of a skeptic.  But this individual had tenacity and curiosity and really wanted to have better relationships in their life.  After having some sessions with me they wanted something more to sink their teeth into and with more of a  commitment to their development so they continued and by the end of the first AMP program they had such a new perspective on how they viewed things and they noticed how their world had completely changed. They were ready to stand more in their power.  There were all kinds of unknown emotions that would come about and we dealt with each one.  They craved more as they continued to heal and grow.  So I created AMP 2, 3, and 4 along with the Intuitive Excellence program.  They took the Reiki classes and Shamanic Earth medicine classes to gain more wisdom in what they were learning about themselves.  This individual ended up doing better in their career and moved up in the ranks in top management roles and also went on to do an MBA.

With your diverse roles and teachings, how do you address the ethical considerations and responsibilities that come with being a Reiki Master Teacher, Shamanic Practitioner, and the creator of a personal development program? How do you ensure the well-being and autonomy of those you work with?

Every single client and student is unique. I continue to do my inner work and conduct self-care so that I can be the best I can in the many hats I wear. I continue to educate and learn from all the different ways that are afforded to me. It is also important to give back and be of service and that is a huge part of our community. I stay within the guidelines I have been taught by my experienced teachers and what my role is as a mentor, coach, practitioner, or teacher. I am holding a sacred space that is protected and aligned with the work I do. I have consistency and good boundaries with myself and those around me. Confidentiality and compassion without judgment are key.   I work with and greet each one where they are without an expectation of where they are and where they want to go.  There is no expectation of just my way there is only encouragement to keep showing up and an invitation to try.  Just one step at a time. I am available and approachable and I guide with kindness and truth.  I encourage them to use their talents and to find their unique way and gifts.  The constant is me and my space. Folks come and go and that is all good as it is part of the evolution for me, them, and my space. I dance with the choreography of spirit and in that way, we don’t lose a step we just keep moving ahead.
