As an Acupuncturist, Herbalist, and Embodiment Coach, your mission is to help individuals resolve pain, remove obstacles, and reclaim their power. Can you share a defining moment or experience that led you to pursue this multifaceted approach to holistic healing?

A defining experience in my life, before I decided to become an acupuncturist, healer and guide, which set me on this path was when I was living in New York City, attending graduate school in journalism and volunteering for a program called Visible Ink at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. The program paired cancer patients at the hospital with writers, artists and creatives to help them express their cancer journey through writing and art as a way to heal.

This program and the people that I worked with there awakened within me this deeper desire I had to support people as a healer. It was not just about the pain they experienced in cancer, although that is a very real part but also about their story and their obstacles to becoming who they truly are because when you are confronting your own mortality it has a way of bringing out deep truth.

In the process of helping people write and express their journey through cancer including the treatments, the relationships and the ways in which they had to be stronger than they ever had to be before, they also reclaimed their power and their resilience. In so many people it became a story of triumph.

Being able to support and witness people move through the challenging experience of cancer and to share their story, gave me the opportunity to see that healing is a multi-faceted approach. That being able to heal is about being able to remember who you truly are.

In your practice, you emphasize the connection between pain, stress, and one’s ability to flourish in life. How do you see these elements interplaying, and what inspired you to focus on this holistic approach to well-being?

When we are in a state of constant pain and chronic stress we are usually in a state of survival. This in that place inhibits our immune, digestive and hormonal systems. When we move out of that state, energy is liberated and our health begins to repair and we are able to use that energy for growth and flourishing. This concept is at the foundation of healing — moving out of surviving to thriving and this happens on all levels of the body, mind and spirit.

I am inspired to share about this because so many people think they have no other choice but to be in pain and stress. But there are options on how to change this state of being and having the support of energy medicine and a guide can really move us into a place of deeper peace and happiness in our lives.

Your tagline encourages individuals to “FLOURISH” by resolving pain and removing obstacles. Can you elaborate on the key principles or techniques you employ to guide your clients towards this state of flourishing in their lives?

Flourishing to me, is creating the optimal inner and outer environment for you to bloom. More specifically feeling healthy and vital and therefore able to access the strength, confidence and inner trust to be your most authentic self and to meet your wider purpose in life. I think the world truly needs us to be awakening our gifts more than ever. Flourishing happens when we meet our deepest wish for our life and move towards it with hope and faith.

Flourishing is part of the healing journey, when you have learned to relate to your pain or wounds differently and suddenly you have more energy for the life you want to live.

Can you share your perspective on the mind-body connection in the context of pain and stress relief?

We know that we, as humans, are a complex network of interconnected systems. In healing, I approach the body on every level, the physical, energetic, mental and spiritual levels to unwind the health challenge. Oftentimes, people have tried lots of different Western treatments without success and so we then work on it from an energetic level. That’s why many people have such quick, effective results from acupuncture because the issue was on the level of the energy body, which Western medicine doesn’t address.

It’s all interconnected and to heal, it all must be made conscious.

How do you tailor your services to meet the individual needs and goals of each person who seeks your guidance?

Practicing Chinese medicine and Daoist philosophy is very focused on the unique individual. Each person has their own patterns and ways of being. We are all individuals with our different experiences of life and our own genetic make-up. There are patterns and similarities but each person has their own path to heal and so I follow their own unique map right alongside them. We together can see what is resonant from the body’s response and so its easy to tailor a treatment specifically to them via cues from the body.

In TCM, we have amazing diagnostic tools of pulse reading, tongue diagnosis and other ways to evaluate the person’s current health.

I like to support the person by meeting them where they are in each moment. I hold the vision for them of healing and unique the life they desire so that they can keep taking one step at a time until suddenly it becomes their reality.
