What does being a homeopath actually mean?
First I would like to describe what homeopathy is so that our readers can know what being a homeopath actually means. Homeo-pathy is based on the principle of like cures like. Homeo means same and pathy means disease. Remedies are studied by the process of what we call provings. The substances are given to healthy individuals and then when symptoms are produced by the substance they are carefully recorded.
All changes in the organism including thinking processes, sleep, dreams, and emotional states are noted. These provings and cured cases by the same remedies are studied carefully by homeopaths until they become like “friends”. So sometimes we may refer to the person needing a certain remedy after the remedy’s name she is a pulsatilla or a lachesis for example. Often we can recognize the remedy needed by an individual very quickly because we are so familiar with what the remedy picture is that they need.
To be a homeopath is to be an unprejudiced observer, without your judgment being clouded with presumptions about the person or anything related to the case. He must then perceive what needs to be cured and then match the suffering to the proper matching remedy. The study and preparation to be a homeopath is not quick or shallow. It is a transformative and deep study that in itself is curative.
How did you personally get into this field?
I “knew” I was to be a homeopath at a very young age. I had never met a homeopath but I knew from what I had heard of it that it fit my way of thinking about health and disease. I knew that suppressing symptoms was not the way to go and homeopaths strive to never suppress an individual on any level. I was about 15 years old when I “knew” fast forward to age 32 and I was living in California and a school opened nearby called Pacific Academy of Homeopathic Medicine.
I knew to just walk in the door and became part of the second graduating class. I continued to study with excellent teachers. and have at least 11 years of formal training. I passed the certification exams in 1997 and I have not looked back since.
What is Bowen therapy?
Bowen therapy is a hands-on adjunct to my healing practice. It is based on several healing arts principles perhaps unbeknown to the creator. It is something like Osteopathy and uses some very important meridians and acupuncture points. The moves make their way through the nervous system to relax the fascia. Before and after pictures of scans have shown the fascia quickly untangle and “melt” after a Bowen treatment.
I learned about Bowen therapy from a dear friend, Kat Shea, who was doing her post-graduate homeopathic studies at the same time I was in Boston, Massachusetts. When she treated me, I felt the results were what I only could call miraculous. Not only did pain from some serious old injuries diminish but there were significant mental and emotional shifts as well.
Can you share a memorable success story?
I have several memorable and what some medical people have called miracles. It is hard to mention and describe them in this format. Homeopathy, when administered and the person is cared for properly is capable of bringing about a complete cure for highly deadly and debilitating diseases. I had one case where the person had had breast cancer that had metastasized from the breast to the lung and bone. She recovered and became cancer-free. A group of doctors in LA had a conference with her and at the end. they all lined up to give her a hug and said they had never seen anything like it before. She needed a remedy where the symptom picture is mentally very shy and reserved and she did not tell them much about how it happened.
Because of Bowen, I have been called a witch! I am not a witch at all but Bowen is very effective and surprisingly fast at getting people out of pain. I had a man come who had a broken back and some surgeries and was on 7 meds to control the pain. On the first visit, he left without any pain and threw his meds away!! That was remarkable and for it, I was called a witch!!
