MysticMag’s Marko Velimirovic had the opportunity to speak with Madeline Hartman – the Director of Psychic Awakenings. We discussed her beginnings, relationship with customers, as well as differences between different session types.
When did you first know that being a psychic medium was your calling and how did it come about?
I trained to do readings and healings at the Berkeley Psychic Institute when I was twenty-two years old. I was ordained as a spiritual minister there and taught psychic meditation classes at three of their branches around the San Francisco Bay area. It was while I was a student there that I decided that I wanted to have my own psychic school someday.
What is the most popular type of reading that customers are looking for? What are the most common concerns that interest them?
Most of my clients want a general aura reading. Each layer of the aura is related to a specific area of their life. So I provide information about their physical body, emotional body, personal power, heart connection to themselves and others, creative energy, psychic abilities, and spiritual awareness. There is pretty much an even distribution of concerns among those life situations.
Are some types of psychic readings more demanding or difficult than others?
It doesn’t happen very often, but once in a while, I get a client who comes in with the stereotypical expectations that psychics know everything about you, will tell you what you should do and can predict exactly what will happen to them. Instead of telling people what they should do, I try to teach people that things don’t “just happen” to them. What happens to them in the future is a direct result of their beliefs, actions, and energies that they put out towards others.
Some of the psychic sessions are still performed in person. What about you? How has your work been affected by the pandemic?
My readings and classes were transported over to Zoom quite easily. I got Zoom up and running the week before we were all asked to stay in our homes last March. In fact, doing virtual readings really helped my students to have more certainty in their abilities. One advantage of doing virtual readings and classes is that we got some new students who live further away, outside of the Seattle area.
In this field, it is often thought that word-of-mouth and personal recommendations are the most important when picking a psychic reader – is this true?
Personal recommendations can be helpful to know that the reader does have some skill in helping people. But it is also important to listen to your own intuition to make a final decision about whom to have a reading from.
What do you love most about your profession?
I love knowing that I have genuinely helped thousands of people to have more productive, happier lives. The psychic tools that I teach work and are powerful. I have created a warm, inclusive, supportive community. Learning how to do readings for other people involves much personal, emotional, and spiritual growth. It is very satisfying to provide support for people who are on a spiritual path.
