How would you describe the role of alternative and holistic health services in today’s healthcare landscape?
I would call it non-compartmentalizing. At A-Mae-Zing , we focus on supporting the mind, body, spirit and the soul. It’s a holistic approach. We see the whole you.
I created “A-Mae-Zing Mind Body Soul Center” to be a hub of holistic practitioners ready to treat or support mind, body, soul, spirit. When blending massage, energy work , acupuncture and other holistic care, I believe, it helps the healing process.
What is the background story of your path to holistic healing? How did you discover that you have a gift for that?
I’ve always had a drive to support people. At an early age I was drawn to nursing. When my twin sister died, I became more passionate about medicine. Through learning how to heal myself, I was introduced to energy work. And it shifted my journey. I explored many different alternative healers and found so much relief. Eventually, I was stable and centered.
I began learning the different disciplines of holistic healing, what it was about, what tools work for me, and then I had an opportunity to move into nursing. Integrating alternative therapy with nursing became a focus. I worked on an orthopedic unit which piloted programs with essential oils for pain reduction. Also, an energy healer /nurse came to the floor working with our post OP patients. Fast forward a few years, my husband and I had an opportunity to buy one of the first firehouses in our city. The first floor was commercial zoned. Because we had to keep it commercial, I started a small Reiki business and A-Mae-Zing was born. It went really well. I grew and relocated to a larger space. Today, 6 years later, we have 5 treatment rooms and a large group room. There are multiple practitioners who offer services at the center. I am honored to have built a hub of healing in our little community.
What type of services do you offer?
We offer Acupuncture, Massage, Reiki, Hypnosis, Life/Spiritual coaching and Yoga. In addition, we have mediums, intuitive healers, Naturopath, and craniosacral practitioners.
Women’s groups and meditation classes once a week. We teach about crystals, oils, alternative healing, and all sorts of different courses and classes. Also, I am doing three-week Empath courses.
What inspired you to write the book “Heart & Soul,” and what message do you hope readers will take away from it?
“Heart and Soul” is a collaboration of 23 authors. I was asked to participate in creating a chapter for the book. My message was really focused around my healing journey, how I got to where I am today. And the inspiration, it is our trial, it is the tribulations that really create that shift in us, gives us the opportunity to evaluate what our perspectives are. I do reference the loss of my sister often because I feel that experience and my healing journey really was a catalyst by creating an opportunity for me to ask the big questions. By asking those big questions kind of changes the trajectory of my life, and that truly is the inspiration to a lot of what I do. It’s not about grieving, I also feel her transition gave me an opportunity to learn, and to also walk my talk. If we’re all energy, then I still get to have a relationship with her. I just have to remember to do it, and to work with my perspective. Allow my heart to be happy instead of keeping it in a place of despair. That takes time and effort.
What advice would you give to someone considering alternative and holistic health services for the first time?
My advice would be to listen to their gut. Work with somebody you feel safe with. Safety is key to healing. Having a safe place to process or just be… is vital.
