Rita Faruki, a spiritual guide and practitioner, shares her profound journey from a conventional aerospace job to her deep connection with nature, and how she now channels this connection into her unique offerings. What led you down this spiritual path in life and what was that path like so far?
Like most people, I was following my life’s threads-getting an education, teaching overseas, and getting different jobs in my field. I have lived in 5 states, all of which were a chapter in my life. While living in Albuquerque in the 1980s and 1990s, I was working a traditional job in aerospace, which was not a match for my values; however, it gave me the time and income to explore all of the spiritual subjects and activities that I am now teaching. I studied with a Peruvian shaman, took classes in animal communication, became certified in Reiki, taught at the Rio Grande Zoo specializing in cats, wolves, and raptors, and immersed myself in rituals and ceremonies of the indigenous tribes in the area. When I retired from The Nature Conservancy in Wyoming and moved to Northern Arizona, I felt the pull to offer my skills and talents to the community; that now is the time we are all being called on to walk our path and carry the light that we are.
To the people unfamiliar with it, can you explain what Sacred Earth Walks is?
Sacred Earth Walks is the name I use for the various services I offer. All of my work is tied to Nature, for she has been my church since I was a little girl growing up in the hardwood forests of Ohio. No matter the modality I am using with clients, it always involves Nature and her gifts. I take people out on the land and use the land as a metaphor for what is happening in their lives. I resonate with being a guide to open up people’s consciousness as to how they can use the Earth in sacred companionship.
How does Drum Healing work?
Drum healing is part of my larger work as a shaman. I teach the basic principles of shamanism, a centuries-old practice for getting answers from our animal brothers and sisters, as well as our friends of the plant and rock worlds. The drumming itself changes brain waves and makes us more susceptible to allowing in the guidance and recommendations of our guides and teachers. Using the drum, clients can make journeys to ask questions and bring back answers for themselves.
Can you walk me through a Qi Gong Healing with Sound and Movement session?
Qi Gong is an ancient practice that gets us in touch with the intelligence of our bodies and makes us aware of how we can be our own healers. Various movements fashioned after plants, animals, and Nature herself are used to correct and align our energetic flow, thus facilitating the vibrancy of our energy. Each of the major organs has a healing sound associated with them. By making the sound, the organ aligns with its frequency, thus bringing in greater health. In a session, we move through various exercises and use the sounds to complete the healing of the body.
What other specific services do you offer?
My website is called sacredconcierge.com. Just like a concierge at a hotel, I offer people a variety of modalities that enrich their awareness, deepen their connection to self, and allow them to explore where they are on their journey in a safe and contemplative way. I offer different meditations, journaling exercises, sound healings, forest bathing, qi gong, mystical journeys through the labyrinth, introduction to chakras, Native American ceremonies, the ancient art of intuitive rock seeing, the Medicine Wheel, vortex discussions, and techniques for working with emotions and life’s experiences.
