What inspired you to become a holistic health and wellness coach?

I grew up exposed to holistic living my entire life. My parents were into health & wellness from the start. My Dad became a buddhist after the Vietnam war. My Mom was brought up Christian Science, so we grew up with mantras and belief systems that we can heal our bodies with how we eat, how we navigate life, how we work out and our belief system. When I was a junior in highschool, my Dad was diagnosed with Stage 4, Lung & brain cancer. He was exposed to Agent Orange in Vietnam and it stayed dormant in his system for 24 years, before it hit. His healthy living style carried him through the turmoil of the battle as well and he lasted 18 months, even though he was given 2 weeks to live. He passed away June 18, 1995. Just five days after my high school graduation on Father’s Day.

This monumental event shook me to my core, but it also established my platform of focus going forward. I went to school for Environmental policy. My charge was to fight the big industries affecting our health. My journey after college didn’t have any environmental jobs at the time so I went into CPG food sales. This is where I learned the ins & outs of our food web, and learned the deep secrets of the US food industry. I also coached sports for 27 years and found a great niche with my passion to teach and guide people to find their true self and be their whole self.

As I went through life, these all seemed like one off tangents of interests, but in fact they have all been critical components in the assembling of my need to become a holistic health & wellness coach and help others navigate their whole well being from a holistic lens. I’m always searching for answers by seeing the big picture. In addition to my 8 pillars of wellness, I have added the bandwidth of releasing our trapped emotions through the Emotion code and now working on releasing the body’s imbalances through the Body code. It’s been quite a journey and I am so excited to share it with the world.

How do you define holistic health, and how does it differ from traditional approaches to wellness?

I define holistic health as seeing the whole picture. The body is in homeostasis and feeling well physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. If you’re dealing with physical health, what are the mental, emotional and spiritual components also affecting your physical health. If it is mental health, what are the physical, emotional and spiritual components affecting your mental health? In addition, You need to look at the inputs that come from the outside as well, i.e. (Environmental, nutritional, beauty care, cleaning products, Household products, etc.) and understand which areas are being affected in order to understand and get to the root core of your problem, symptoms, disease, etc. You can’t know the whole, without the sum of all the parts.

So in our traditional approaches to wellness, Doctors see the symptoms and take their experience and assumptions to diagnose a disease or illness. However, if you are able to see it from a holistic lens, you will look at the entire mind, body and soul and find the imbalances, correct them and get to the core reasons. Traditional wellness gives the simple formula to wellness as get good sleep +exercise/movements eat well+stress reduction= healthy life. From a holistic lens that formula is longer and more encompassing and while it entails more details and lifestyle/routine changes, it truly leads to holistic health & wellness.

What type of services do you offer?

I offer Holistic health & wellness coaching that helps people identify their blueprint, by looking at their 8 pillars of wellness and assessing each of their strengths. Once identified, I use Emotion code and soon Body code to help get to the core/root reasons of their imbalances, while also guiding them in lifestyle routines that will drive whole wellbeing. I help clients establish their holistic tribe (who are the people that support their whole health & wellness?) I.e. naturopath, a Chiro, a CST, a therapeutic massage, Essential oils, holistic nutrition, nature guide, etc. Finally, I am a Reiki practitioner and will balance healing and stress with the use of reiki when needed.

What unique strategies or techniques do you incorporate into your coaching practice to promote overall well-being?

I am most excited about leveraging the subconscious mind to find your true path to health & wellness with the Emotion code and Body code. These are key to navigating your journey with critical pieces of information to find the breakthroughs needed to reach holistic health & wellness.

In your experience, what are some common challenges or obstacles that clients face on their wellness journey, and how do you help them overcome those challenges?

There are so many day to day obstacles, society obstacles, belief system obstacles, misinformation obstacles, etc. I like to guide clients from a higher level vantage point, by using holistic principles to pull them out of the weeds. Mind set is about 90% of the journey to full health & wellness and clearing any imbalances out of the way is a huge step in living as your whole self. Trapped Emotions are one of the largest obstacles we as humans face. When we are not taught how to process our emotions (all 60 of them), they can become trapped in the body (Where there is weakness) and settle in as symptoms, diseases, illness, mental health and more. That is our “Emotional baggage” while it’s a fancy coined term that has substantial truth to it. Much of the journey is about education and perspective. l.

How do you balance your roles as an owner and coach in your business, and what strategies do you employ to ensure both aspects receive adequate attention and focus?

That is the age old question- Not sure it is truly balance, but going with the flow to manage all the parts. Going back to my history, I am so thankful for all my experiences, especially my business and sales experience in CPG food sales where I learned the ins and out of managing a business, and I can balance that with my life’s journey to create a fairly balanced approach to my business flow. All of my practical experiences are what makes me who I am. That is a gift and I am here to share with the people excited to find balance through the holistic lens as well. I strive to be as self-sufficient as I can, by creating my own website, social media, content, marking etc. I work with Wesparkle to create my booking and scheduling that helps create flow in my business and create the lifestyle I am building out. I track and manage financials, client data with ease just as I did in my sales days with excel and I love data to help drive what’s next. Using all the tools to really build out a solid program for people who want to find balance, get to the root cause, by seeing the big picture and really living life.
