Feel Like Yourself Again With Jen Vitry

Feel Like Yourself Again With Jen Vitry

Today, Jen Vitry and Mystic Mag dive into the world of holistic healing, exploring how a holistic healer can guide you towards a path of optimal health and well-being. Jen highlights the importance of addressing the mind, body, and spirit for lasting change.

When did you first know that being a Holistic Healer was your calling and how did it come about?

Over a decade ago, in my previous career as a forensic science investigator, I got sick with multiple symptoms that seemed unrelated—asthma, headaches, slipped disk, gastroparesis, and sleep issues. The modern medical system could only offer me prescription drugs and surgery to repair my gut. I found a naturopath that offered a deeper investigation into potential root causes.

He utilized specialized tests that looked at food sensitivities, my hormones and the microbiome—the microbial community that resides in the GI tract and influences our immune function, mood, cognition and most organ functions. These tests and his focus on natural solutions returned me to health and I was able to give up medications and return to better functioning—hiking mountains and playing basketball with my son.

In that moment I knew—I wanted to offer this same hope to the world. I wanted to give others the chance at real answers to their symptoms and the chance to return to their life happier and healthier.

What services do you offer?

Our goal is to provide science-based, individualized treatment plans for each client. We meet you where you are—for some that’s finding answers to long-term chronic conditions and for others, figuring out why they can’t focus or losing weight like they used to; why are they so lethargic. We use advanced functional medicine labs which provide an in-depth look at biochemical pathways often revealing system anomalies that have gone undetected.

We test for molds and heavy metals and other potential insults to the system; we look at methylation to make sure you’re detoxing well and taking in the right folate and B12 for good mental health, cellular energy and sleep. Some clients want to sub in nutraceuticals for ADHD medications or maybe just not be so tired at 3 pm in the afternoon. I tell my clients—no symptom is too small to consider. We can all feel better—and often it’s just with some minor adjustments—like taking in more protein or certain micronutrients.

We do not have to decline with age—we can actually get stronger and feel better. Our packages are set up to meet your needs—baseline assessment with insightful plan versus a 6-month all intensive work up with weekly sessions and a diverse support team. We’re ready to support you on your health journey!

How does holistic Healing with food and herbs work?

My clients are often shocked when simply adding magnesium to their nightly routine improves sleep. Or when focus improved just by meeting their specific protein needs. Holistic healing is taking into account the whole person when looking at optimal health. We are mind-body-spirit beings. We need to consider the whole person when addressing conditions.

And the body is very familiar with natural solutions like food and herbs—it can more readily incorporate these symbiotic phytonutrients into the system and put them to work. Plants make metabolites to protect themselves from a disease or a pest, and those same metabolites can go to heal or serve us.

Getting the body’s rhythms back on tract and finding homeostasis is a big part of balancing hormones and sorting out chronic inflammation—what better tool than something the body knows how to process and utilize immediately like natural remedies.

What are the effects of diet on our mental wellbeing?

Food is the greatest impact we can have on our thinking and relating and functioning. Food is fuel and every aspect of it influences biochemistry in the body. What time we start eating, the makeup of that first meal, and whether we are meeting our body’s needs in a day is crucial.

My clients say they skipped a meal to lose weight, but if the body is not receiving what it needs—it will try to protect us by not burning fat. So, lining up what things are not working optimally with what and how we are eating tells us where we can adjust. And it’s our job to brainstorm solutions and come up with snacks, meal plans, supplements and potential adjustments to make it work for our high-functioning, super busy clients. We help you make the healthy options work in your life.

What can a person expect from your sessions?

Compassion. Interest. Commitment to supporting their journey. We have so many clients come to us following very disappointing experiences with the medical system. We take time to get to know our client with in-depth forms coupled with a 90 minute intake. The healing journey is personal and we need to learn what your goals and timeline are, and what has and has not worked in the past. When we run the functional medicine labs, we spend a lot of time exploring insights with the clients and create wellness plans to clear the bacterial overgrowths or get rid of mold or boost the gut lining which is responsible for our immune functioning and our neurotransmitter health

Following the intake, each package comes with a number of follow up sessions designed to help resolve the issues identified, boost the body and followed by a macro work-up – which is outfitting your specific body with the right protein, healthy fats, carbohydrates and hydration to boost functioning.

What do you love most about your profession?

I love people getting their power back. I love when clients say they feel like themselves again. Or, finally getting answers. Often, the client knows something is wrong and these symptoms are not normal. And with these tests, we can hunt down hidden insults or imbalances that change their life.

People leave comments on my review page and it’s so amazing to hear what activities they got back to—playing with their kids or hiking or running a marathon. We are here to thrive, not survive—and imagine what we can do collectively if we all feel our best and are able to live our best life! That’s the best gift—being part of your healing journey. What an honor!
