What inspired your transition from a cardiac nurse to a Transformational Energy Medicine Practitioner?

Well, I’ve been involved in transformational work for quite some time. Initially, I started my journey because my life had taken a turn for the worse, and I was searching for answers about who I truly was. About 12 years ago, I began this journey, and my life has completely changed since then.

At the time, I was working in the health system, managing a cardiac catheterization lab. We were performing procedures like stent placements for heart attack patients. But one day, while working on a case, I started experiencing palpitations myself — right there in the lab, while we were helping someone else. It was a wake-up call. My health began to deteriorate, and I had to take some time off work to recover.

When I returned, I realized that my health had to be my top priority. I decided to go part-time, but the system wasn’t accommodating. I eventually left my position after much internal struggle. However, the day I was supposed to return to full-time work, I fractured my knee cap while in the cath lab. I was off for another 10 weeks. I took that as a sign — I wasn’t meant to go back to that environment.

Within the next year, I left the health system altogether and started doing what I truly love. The work I’m doing now is incredibly powerful, and it’s amazing how many people don’t realize the potential they have within themselves. Having spent 30 years in healthcare, I’ve seen so many different situations, but what I do now is much more transformational. It empowers people to take control of their own health through energy work.

In the traditional health system, acute care is brilliant, but when it comes to chronic illness, there’s a lot of room for improvement. If we took a more preventative approach, many people wouldn’t end up in the situations they find themselves in.

What I’m doing now is so much more meaningful to me. It’s a transformation, both for me and for the people I help. I didn’t plan for this change, but I’m so much happier and more at peace now. Life has taken me on a completely new path, and it’s exciting to see where it goes.

How does your 12-week ‘Radiant Health’ program assist individuals in managing chronic health issues?

Absolutely. The concept behind the program is that everything is energy. If you consider that everything in life, including your emotions, thoughts, and even what you say, is energy, then it makes sense to approach health from that perspective. A lot of chronic health issues stem from what’s happening internally — in our subconscious mind. This part of the brain is responsible for our habits, the patterns that repeat over and over. We spend so much time in our heads, listening to the outside noise, that we often fail to tune into what’s really going on within us. But these subconscious patterns are what drive our lives.

The program helps individuals connect with what’s going on inside — what stresses them out, and what stories they are telling themselves. The more we replay these stories, the more we keep ourselves stuck in low-frequency energy. If we want to change our situation, we need to change the frequency of the story we are telling. The program guides people on how to tap into their inner world and change these patterns, empowering them to take control of their own healing.

Once we’ve addressed the inner workings, we focus on what we want to bring into our lives — how we want our lives to be. The program takes a step-by-step approach, and the more you practice, the easier it becomes. We are changing old habits and replacing them with new, soul-aligned practices.

It’s a holistic approach, covering the mind, body, and soul. A key part of the program is grounding — connecting with the Earth and the universe. There’s an entire segment on this, as it’s crucial for creating balance. We also incorporate mindfulness, journaling, energy medicine, exercise, and yoga. There’s no one-size-fits-all solution, so the program is flexible to meet individual needs. The goal is to create a personalized package that helps you get up in the morning and sets you up for a successful day.

In what ways does your background in acute cardiac care influence your approach to energy medicine?

That’s such a great question. When you think about the heart, there are a few key components that we typically focus on in the medical field. There’s the electrical component, which is responsible for getting the heart to beat properly, sending signals from the top of the heart to the bottom to circulate blood throughout the body. Then, there’s the “plumbing” — the blood vessels. We often refer to cardiologists as either “electricians” or “plumbers,” depending on their specialization in the heart’s electrical system or blood vessels. And, of course, there’s the heart muscle and valves themselves.

However, there’s another crucial aspect that is often overlooked in mainstream medicine: the emotional side of the heart. This is where my background in energy medicine comes in. In acute cardiac care, we never really asked patients about the emotional stresses they had experienced leading up to their heart issues. Yet, in my experience, many patients had significant emotional events in the year or so before they started experiencing heart problems. If we could address that emotional stress earlier, I believe many of them wouldn’t have ended up in the cath lab.

Our bodies hold emotions at the cellular level, and each emotion has its own frequency. Negative emotions, like guilt or shame, tend to carry a lower frequency, while positive emotions like joy and happiness vibrate at a higher frequency. The key in energy medicine is helping to shift and elevate these emotional frequencies. We can do this by working with the body’s energy flow, which might involve different techniques, including energy medicine practices.

A great example is a client I worked with who had chronic migraines. She was 30 years old and had been dealing with them for years. As her migraines worsened, her medication dose kept increasing, but they weren’t getting any better. When she came to me, it was almost as a last resort. After digging deeper, we discovered that her migraines had started when she was seven years old, shortly after her parents divorced. She became the emotional “go-between” for her parents, taking on a parent-like responsibility at a young age. This pattern had continued into adulthood, where she was still taking on this role for her friends, which was contributing to her migraines.

Once she made this connection, everything changed. Within three months, her medication was reduced by half, and she was living a completely different life. She was renting out her house and traveling through Europe. Her migraines no longer controlled her life. This is an example of the mind-body-cell connection, which is not typically considered in mainstream medicine, but is so important.

Energy medicine focuses on identifying where energy is stuck in the body, often due to emotional blockages, and finding ways to get it flowing again. This can be through emotional release techniques or physical movement, like yoga, to help shift energy. There are nine energy systems in the body, and each one plays a role in overall health. Working on one of these systems can help, but sometimes it takes addressing multiple systems in different ways to create lasting change. The key is to find the right combination of practices that work for the individual.

Can you explain how energy medicine works to restore balance in the body?

A great example of how energy medicine works is through testing the body’s energy. One of the things I love about the modalities I use is that we can actually test a person’s energy. I come from a science background, so I like to know where the imbalances are. By testing, we can determine whether the energy is strong or weak. This allows us to pinpoint where to focus our work, especially since energy doesn’t lie.

For many clients, stress is a major issue. When our bodies are stressed, we go into fight or flight mode. However, our bodies are not designed to be in this state for extended periods of time. For health and balance, we should be in rest and digest mode, which is part of the autonomic nervous system. This response comes from ancient times — a reflex action that was essential for survival. When a stressful event occurs, our bodies shift into fight or flight mode as a protective mechanism. During this, our muscles prepare for action, blood flow is redirected away from normal systems, and various physical changes occur — like an increase in heart rate, blood pressure, and respiratory rate.

This was useful when humans were running from a tiger, but today, we’re constantly in a state of stress due to work deadlines, family obligations, traffic, and other modern-day pressures. The hormones that are released during this stress don’t have an outlet, so they remain within the system. Over time, this can make us ill because our bodies are not designed to stay in fight or flight mode continuously. We can’t be in both fight or flight and rest and digest simultaneously, and this imbalance is a significant contributor to chronic illnesses. In fact, stress is likely responsible for more than 90% of chronic illnesses. For example, if your immune system isn’t functioning properly due to stress, you’re at a higher risk for diseases like cancer or autoimmune disorders.

From an energy medicine perspective, we can measure and address these imbalances. One of the systems we focus on is called the meridian system, which is like the arteries and veins of the energy body. There are 14 points in this system that correspond to organs. One of these points is related to the “triple warmer,” which is the body’s security system and is closely linked to the fight or flight response. For many people, the triple warmer is overactive, drawing energy from the spleen — a system that’s vital for digestion, blood health, and emotions. When the triple warmer drains energy from the spleen, the spleen becomes depleted, which can create an imbalance.

So, the first step is to balance the triple warmer and spleen. By calming the triple warmer and strengthening the spleen, we can restore balance to these systems. Once they are balanced, other energy systems can work more effectively. The process is gradual, but once the balance is achieved, people often feel immediate relief and relaxation. This relief can then be built upon through regular sessions, focusing on deeper energy systems and ensuring long-term balance.

What role do practices like Hatha yoga and meditation play in your healing sessions?

The 12-week program I offer incorporates various grounding techniques, energy medicine exercises, and practices like Hatha yoga. The program consists of eight modules, along with an online component and nine one-on-one sessions with me. The online component includes videos and simple exercises that are easy to follow. These exercises are designed to help you ground yourself in different ways, as it can be difficult to connect with the earth in some climates, especially in the northern hemisphere, where it’s not always possible to go outside and connect with nature.

In addition to grounding techniques, we use energy medicine exercises and yoga to help move the energy through the body. These exercises work with the nine energy systems in the body. We also focus on mindfulness, which helps quiet the mind and tune in to what’s happening inside so we can identify areas that need attention. Journaling is another tool we use to help reflect on our inner experiences.

The program is designed to educate you in a variety of ways to give you a full picture of the mind-body-soul connection. Hatha yoga and energy medicine are woven throughout the program, but we also incorporate them into our one-on-one sessions as needed. The sessions are very flexible and tailored to whatever surfaces during our work together. The idea is that the eight modules may trigger something specific for you, and we will address that as it comes up.

So, the process is always dynamic and individualized. Whether we’re tapping into your subconscious, using energy medicine exercises, incorporating movement, or practicing mindfulness, it’s always focused on your unique needs.

How do you tailor your energy healing sessions to address specific conditions like ADHD or anxiety?

That’s a great question. When clients come to me with conditions like ADHD or anxiety, I first assess their energy. One of the benefits of the online component of my program is that I teach clients how to test their own energy. This process empowers them to check in with their own system. However, it’s normal for people to second-guess themselves when they’re first learning how to do this. If that happens, I can step in and perform a surrogate test for them to ensure accuracy.

For example, if someone comes to me with ADHD, I start by testing their energy. There are about 10 basic tests I begin with, and while I may have an idea of what imbalances could appear, I don’t want to make assumptions. For ADHD, there are a couple of common energy imbalances that tend to show up. First, many people with ADHD are not grounded, which is a big issue. We can test for grounding and see which part of the body isn’t grounded. Another common issue is that their energies might not be crossing over properly, and their energy system could be easily scrambled.

It’s important to note that I don’t focus solely on the diagnosis, as I don’t want to let that shape the session too much. Labels can be helpful, but I prefer to focus on the energy itself and what’s actually happening in the body. I work with what I sense and test, rather than being driven by a diagnosis.

Once we’ve identified the imbalances, we begin working with specific exercises to restore balance. With ADHD, for example, I would focus on grounding techniques and energy exercises that help with crossing the energies over. Often, these old habits and patterns are deeply ingrained, so we need to repeat these exercises regularly to create lasting change. If a client’s old patterns resurface, we continue with the new exercises until the energy system holds the new balance.

When working with anxiety, grounding is also a key component. Many people struggling with anxiety aren’t properly grounded, which can keep them stuck in their heads. Grounding is essential because it allows the body’s energy to flow correctly. One simple grounding exercise is rubbing a stainless steel spoon on the soles of your feet. This technique draws energy down from the body and into the Earth, helping to restore balance and get the energy flowing.

In essence, the approach is about identifying where the imbalances are, applying the appropriate exercises, and repeating them consistently until new, healthy habits take root. It’s not an overnight process, but with time and repetition, it becomes easier and more natural for the body to maintain the new balance.
